Encomium.ng gathered reactions from Nigerians who have taken to popular social media, twitter to air their views:

@phantomBABA –  Ahmed Musa is a smart boy,  he’s giving Mikel OBI the center stage to end his national team career with another lackluster performance.

@sportingshina –  Even Ahmed Musa knew Sunday Oliseh was very wrong . Welcome on board , captain John Mikel Obi. I salute Musa for his humility.

@sundayAkinjide – From Vincent Enyeama to Ahmed Musa  to John Mikel Obi within 9 months. I think this is more interesting than 3 idiots.

@Am_kachi – Ahmed Musa willingly relinquishing his captain’s armband for John Mikel Obi,  citing seniority as reason. Good move?

@paulchigozie – Ahmed Musa honouring Mikel Obi with the captain  band just confirms how daft Sunday Oliseh was in picking leaders in the Super eagles.
