The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the weekend issued a three day ultimatum to the federal Government to reverse the increase of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N86.50 per litre or else their members would embark on an indefinite nationwide strike fromWednesday, May 18, 2016.
ENCOMIUM Weekly sampled opinion of Nigerians about the move by the NLC and TUC to embark on nationwide strike on Wednesday. Many describe the move as the way forward to a better Nigeria, while others suggest strike is not the solution.

This is not the first time they are embarking on such strike. It happened in 2012 when the past administration removed fuel subsidy on the first day of the year. It can happen over and over again. All I know is only God can take this country to its promise land, and no matter how long the strike lasts, the grace of God will benefit me and my family.
So, let the strike go on.

I don’t see any reason why they have to give the Federal Government ultimatum, they are supposed to embark on the strike immediately the subsidy was removed. Why give room for the negotiation that we all know it won’t work. If going on strike is the way out, then let it go on, we are ready for it. The N145 fuel price is just too much.

Nice move. We need to speak up and fight for our right. The N145 is just too much, I can no longer afford transport fare to my work place.

It amazed me that the world oil producing country can sell fuel at N145 for their citizens. The only direct valve we get from this so called government through paying for subsidy which indirectly affect citizens that buys feel.
The strike should go on. We can’t stand buying a litre of petrol for N145.

I do not support the idea of going on strike. I see the strike as a waste of time because no matter how long the strike last, it won’t solve the problem we are facing. I believe the removal of fuel subsidy is a good move by the government to regulate the sector, so I personally don’t support the idea of strike.
