Nigerians roast ex-governors now senators collecting pensions

Many Nigerians are not happy with the way some serving senators who are ex-governors are still entitled to pensions from their various states, while they’re collect outrageous salaries and allowances.

Some described them as greedy and callous individuals whose actions are also contributory to the poor economic situation the country now finds itself.

According to few Nigerians encomium.ng spoke to on the issue, the senators are supposed to be returning the pensions to the purses of the states they once served as helmsmen in the interest of the poor and teeming workers who have not been collecting salaries for months.

‘They’re greedy individuals’ – LOWO ADEGBENJO

“Most of these senators are greedy and selfish. They don’t even have the fear of God in them at all. Why collect pension again after the bogus salaries and allowances being paid as senators? Is it not the same Nigeria they claim they’re serving?

They should even weigh the situation of the country’s economy and forgo the so called pension in the interest of the poor in their various states. And the saddest thing is that most workers in their states have not collected salaries for about 10 months.

For instance, if not greed and wickedness, why is someone like Senator Bukola Saraki, a senate president, still collecting a pension of about N2 m every month in Kwara state despite all he’s entitled to as Senate President? And the workers in his states are crying. It’s unfair. Such money should be returned to the state treasury if at all the constitution allows him to collect it. It’s unfair.”

‘They’re all rogues’ – IKEHIA SAMUEL

“I have lost respect for all of them, including those who were never governors among them. I am sure after leaving the Senate, may be in 2019, most of them will still vie for governorship seats in their respective states. So, they’re all rogues.

They don’t see the poor as anything. It’s their families and themselves alone. God will judge. Let them continue. What more do they want after collecting about N30m monthly? They’re just wicked. Such money should not even be collected at all in the first instance, they should add up to pay the salaries of the poor workers who couldn’t make ends meet.”

Among the current senators who also served as governors in their various states are, Bukola Saraki (Kwara), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Kabiru Gaya (Kano), Goodwill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Theodore Orji (Abia), Abdullahi Adam (Nasarawa), Sam Egwu (Ebonyi), Danjuma Goje (Gombe), Joshua Dariye (Plateau), Ahmed Sanni Yerima (Zamfara), Aliu Wamako (Sokoto), George Akume (Benue), Adam Aliero (Kebbi), Buka Abba Ibrahim (Gombe), Jonah Jang (Plateau) and few others.
