The 2014 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to three scientists who discovered the brain’s system of cells that helps it work out where it is, how to get from one place to another and store the information for future reference.
The system – called the brain’s “inner GPS” – was discovered by British-American John O’Keefe and Norwegians Edvard I. Moser and May-Britt Moser.
