Nollywood star, Stephanie Linus stages ‘Dry’ premiere to loud applause 3: ‘It’s a touching story’-Hauwa Maina, Hadiza (Halima’s mom)

How does it feel seeing this day after all the work?

I’m really proud of her. Honestly, what Stephanie has done has proven she’s a true Nigerian because this is a national issue.

What role did you play?

I acted as Hadiza, Halima’s mother who later turned out not to be her biological mother. She bought her from a woman when she needed a child. But she cared and loved her even when her father sent her away.

What was it like on the set of this movie?

The set was the kind that after the filming, nobody wanted to leave. We became like a family. It was lovely.

The story behind the movie is about VVF. It’s about a girl that was given out in marriage early to a husband old enough to be her father. Let me add here that early marriage causes VVF because she’s not ripe for child bearing. But it also affects older women but in a different way. I believe this movie will teach parents to desist from this dangerous act.

Why should someone see this movie?

It’s a touching story. Halima in the movie was a child that was cheated out of childhood and I think everyone who has a child should watch it.

What do you think about the Nigerian movie industry, especially this year?

The producers are doing well producing good films but piracy is killing the industry.
