Nollywood stars: How they make their millions and what they spend it on (2): Patience Ozokwor

Born on March 28, 1958, in Ngwo, Enugu State, Patience Ozokwor, famously addressed as Mama G, is not only a veteran theatre practitioner but a very successful one.  She is also into music and fashion and she is doing well in all her beats.

Her acting career started years back, and during her teacher training days in Afikpo, she had a Literature teacher who made her and her colleagues present a play every term.  When it was the turn of her set to present a play, she was given the role of Hamlet in Williams Shakespeare’s play of the same title and the production came out fine.  Other schools that offered Hamlet as a subject paid to watch the production.  In fact, they were invited to stage the play in so many other places in Eastern Nigeria.  Patience was very popular then and everywhere she went, people were calling her Hamlet.  But after she finished from teacher training college, she forgot everything about drama, until she went to Radio Nigeria, where Chika Okpala (Chief Zebrudaya of New Masquerade), invited her to take part in a commercial in which she played the wife of Pete Eneh.  The commercial was a mass orientation promo by the then Anambra State Government to encourage the indigenes acquire Western education before venturing into trading.  Her performance really impressed Zebrudaya and Pete Eneh and was encouraged to forge ahead.  However, she reluctantly succumbed to the advice.  But later she was pleasantly surprised the way she rose in the industry.

After her first movie in 1998, she wormed herself into the hearts of many movie lovers.  But when she did another movie, Authority, in 1999, the flick actually popularized her and really shot her to limelight.  Since then, the rest is history.

She has acted in well over 150 movies, including Missing Child, Personal Desire, After my Heart, Bottom of my Heart, Critical Truth, Female Lion, Heart of a Slave, Husband my Foot and lots more.  Mama G, no doubt, is the biggest female thespian in Nollywood who fame, fortune and global recognition have dealt good hand since she started out.  Call her the most loved actress with the largest number of fans home and abroad, you will definitely be stating the obvious.  The sexy grandmother has carved a niche for herself nationwide and in the diaspora with her unique expertise and clout which is unequalled in Nollywood.

The actress by virtue of her status is presently living a comfortable life and holds sway as one of the most prominent indigenes in her hometown, Ngwo, Enugu State where she resides.

She owns about three mansions in Enugu, one of which is her country home in Ngwo, another in Enugu City and until recently, she also unveiled another exquisite duplex in Coal City of Enugu.  She also owns a very popular filling station in Enugu and also a wave making fast food outfit, all worth millions of naira.

Mama G is also a lover of beautiful cars and has a lot in her garage, ranging from Nissan Pathfinder to Infiniti models, some of which have customized number plates, MAMA G.  Her latest acquisition is Honda Pilot SUV.  Her garage, we learnt, is worth N75 million.

The fantastic role interpreter is blessed with two children, one is Uchendu Ozokwor, who got married to his heartthrob, Gloria on Saturday, May 25, 2013 in the United Kingdom.
