Nollywood veteran, Toyin Majekodunmi died in Gbagada General Hospital 

… Why she will be buried on March 3
On Monday, January 2, 2016, the Yoruba sector of Nigerian movie industry was thrown into deep mourning as veteran actress, Toyin Majekodunm ( Iya Kike), wife of veteran actor, Majekodunmi, popularly called Baba Kekere, passed on after a brief illness.

According to an industry source, she was uncomfortable few days before her death, and was rushed to a private hospital near her Somolu, Lagos residence where she was referred to General Hospital, Gbagada, Lagos on Friday, December 30, 2016.

She was said to be responding to treatment not until the early hours of Monday, January 2, 2017, when her condition worsened and all eforts to restore her health proved abortive as she finally breathed her last that fateful Monday. 

“Iya Kike didn’t die at home. She died at General Hospital, Gbagada where she was hospitalised for about four days. I really don’t know the nature of the ailment that finally led to her death. All I know is that she has not been feeling fine for some days before she finally gave up the ghost on Monday, January, 2, 2017.”

“I learnt she will be buried on March, 3, 2017, in Lagos. Details of the burial arrangement will be out soon after consulting her husband who is currently in the United States of America.”

Iya Kike, encomium.ng was informed, was the first wife of Baba Kekere and left behind five chilldren-Bayo who is also in the US, Kike, Nike, Lara and Sunbo Majekodunmi.

We,however, contacted famous actor cum producer, Yomi Fabiyi who is the spokes person for the burial committee on why the burial of the famous theatre practitioner is delayed till March, and he reacted, ” Mama was a dvout christian, and well placed among her colleagues across the country. And for a befitting burial, we the committee members need at least eight weeks of planning.”
