Normalcy returns at Lagos alleged kidnappers’ dens

-As residents of Agbado-Ijaye, Ile Zik bury fear, anger

‘Investigation is ongoing’ – PPRO

Days after the discovery of kidnappers’ dens in Obadeyi, Agbado-Ijaye and Ile Zik areas of Lagos state which led to eruption of violence and jungle justice, residents of the two places are now moving freely as normalcy has finally returned in the vicinities.

However, there’s still presence of the police manning the two affected areas to ensure further security of lives and property should any attempt be made by hoodlums who may be hanging around to fetch from the incident.

One of the residents of Agbado-ijaiye who spoke to encomium.ng said, “Everything has died down now. Everybody is moving freely. The situation is normal now. No harassment by anybody again. Although, people still believe that some of the kidnappers have escaped because I learnt the canal has about 21 outlets which can serve as escape routes for them. So, we’re appealing to the police to be steadfast in their investigation so that those behind the crime will be brought to book while we also want them to release those arrested  for protesting against being prevented from applying jungle justice on the suspects arrested at the scenes of the incident. But for now, the environment is back to its usual peaceful self.”

Also, a motorist plying Agege/Oshodi expressway also confirmed to encomium.ng that the situation is the same now at Ile Zik as there’s free flow of traffic along the route.

“People have forgotten the incident. Everybody is going about his or her normal business. Although, few people still discuss it, not as hot as it was when the place was uncovered. The basic thing now is that the fear of passing the spot has disappeared now. We learnt the police are still working day and night to ensure the perpetrator of the crime are arrested. Already, some of them have been arrested and detained. I believe they should still be helping the police in their investigation by now.”

On Tuesday, August 15, 2017, encomium.ng contacted the Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos state, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole and he said, “Investigation is ongoing. As you’re aware, some suspects have been arrested and paraded. They were paraded on Monday, August 14, 2017. The command is working  assiduously on that and we will surely update the public on the outcome of our findings.”
