‘Nothing special in being mother of Femi Fani-Kayode’s first son’- Precious Chikwendu

Former Minister of Aviation and the spokesperson of former president, Goodluck Jonathan 2015 Presidential Election Committee, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has been overwhelmed with joy since Monday, February 1, 2016, when his wife,  Precious Chikwendu delivered a baby boy.

The 55 year old politician immediately took to his Twitter handle to announce to the whole world the birth of his first son thus: “I give thanks to God for the birth of my first son which took place today (February 1, 2016). Both the mother and the child are doing fine. To God be the glory.”

We tried as much as we could to get Chief Femi Fani-Kayode to talk about this good news, we did not succeed.

We were, however, lucky to get the mother of the new baby, Miss Precious Chikwendu who was more than willing to share her experience with ENCOMIUM Weekly…

1-Fullscreen capture 2212016 63222 PMWe want to congratulate you on your new born baby?

Thank you very much.

How does it make you feel having a baby boy for Chief Femi Fani-Kayode?

Of course, it is a thing of joy. I am happy and he is happy as well.

How did Chief Fani-Kayode himself feel when he got to know the baby is a boy?

From the beginning till the end he’s always been there. He has been happy all along. He was at the theatre when I had the baby. He was beside me. Right there, he started taking care of his child and praying for the tot.

We learnt that the child has been given a name. What is the name of the boy?

His name is Aragon, Joshua, Lotana, Oluwafemi, Emmanuel, Fani-Kayode.

Do you in anyway feel special being the first wife to ever give him a baby boy?

(Chuckles) That doesn’t make me feel special. I am glad to have a child that we both love. It is a blessing and it is an epitome of everything. I don’t see anything special about that. Anybody could have a boy. What is special is that we are both happy because the baby came as a union of our happiness.

How does it make you feel being married to somebody who is not from your side? He is Yoruba and you are Igbo?

I don’t have problem with that. What matters to me is happiness. Whenever you find your happiness, that is it. It doesn’t matter where. As long as you are happy and the person you are with is happy, that is all that matter.

What about the fact that the person you are married to is very popular and always in the news. Does that make you feel somehow?

I don’t see that part of him. He is someone I can relate with very well. We relate like friends so, that part of him doesn’t even come to play. We relate so well that I even forget that he is older than me.

Doesn’t the age difference in anyway bother you?

It doesn’t bother me in anyway. He is my friend, he is my brother and he is everything to me. I don’t see any difference in our age.  I feel much joy.
