Oasis Association donates to Borno State Government for internally displaced persons

Oasis Association, an off-shoot of the Grail Movement, in partnership with Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, has donated some relief materials to Borno State Government for internally displaced persons. Oasis Association is one of the platforms with which the Grail Movement in Nigeria fulfills some social responsibilities. It is a foundation and a Non-Governmental Organisation for giving hope to humanity. This is achieved by reaching out to people affected by destitution and/or distress.
During the presentation of the relief materials at the Borno State liaison office in Lagos, Air Vice Marshal Olufemi Soewu (rtd), the president of the group stated, “It was founded in 2000 with membership open to individuals with varied professional backgrounds but who have a common spiritual knowledge. It is every
member’s desire to translate the spiritual knowledge into his earthly endeavours without expecting any material benefits except what accrues to him in the great
Store House of Creation. It must be stated that the Oasis Association, as an off- shoot of the Grail Movement, is one of the platforms with which the Grail Movement in Nigeria fulfills some social responsibilities.
“These are some our programmes over the years. In 2001, relief materials was donated to the Ikeja bomb blast victims. 2007 and 2008 witnessed a donation of relief materials including drugs for the Liberian refugees in Oru camp. Widows’ empowerment programme in 2013, where select widows were given grinding and sewing machines to enhance their means of livelihood.
“In 2014, we embarked on a health outreach programme where a disease prone area was selected and people were screened for hepatitis, tuberculosis and HIV. Those found to be infected were treated free of charge.
“This year, we are focusing on the Internally Displaced Persons (lDPs) in Nigeria. We had earlier in the year donated several bags of clothing items through another
arrangement. However, we are aware that Borno State is probably the worst affected zone as a result of the insurgency being experienced by our country,
Nigeria at this time. Therefore, we decided to channel this enhanced donation, in partnership with Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, to our brothers and sisters in Borno State
who are unfortunate victims of insurgent activities.
“With what we see and hear in the news media, no amount of effort can replace the losses the people have suffered. We are conscious that the State Government should not bear the burden alone, so we can only urge the State Government to accept our widow’s mite comprising 100 Vitafoam mattresses, 100 Vitafoam pillows, ten bags of beans, ten bags of rice and ten bags of assorted clothing items,” AVM Soewu concluded.
Mrs. Racheal Balami, who received the materials on behalf of Borno State appreciated the association for the gesture.
