OBJ drums support for Gov. Amosun

-Mobilizes Owu sons and daughters for his second term

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has thrown his weight behind the candidacy of the incumbent governor of Ogun State for his second term bid, if information at ENCOMIUM Weekly’s disposal is anything to count on.

According to information, Obasanjo has called on all prominent sons and daughters of Owu across the state to rally their support for Amosun in the forth-coming governorship election in the state being one of their own.

A reliable source also told ENCOMIUM Weekly that even before OBJ threw in the towel as chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, he had been in support of Amosun’s government, having come from his Owu lineage.

The source further disclosed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that the famous Ota farmer convened a meeting of all prominent sons and daughters of Owu in his Abeokuta, Ogun residence recently, which Governor Amosun also attended.

At the meeting, OBJ was said to have made a clarion call to the sons and daughters of Owu resident in Ogun State to support Amosun’s second term bid to enable him continue his good work in the state.

The former PDP BOT chairman was said to have expressed dismay over the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. He reportedly urged all Ogun indigenes to disregard any campaign of calumny against the governor so that his success at the poll in 2015 could be guaranteed.

“Obasanjo has not only dumped PDP, he is now a great supporter of APC in Ogun State. And as an Owu chieftain, he has also called on all the prominent indigenes of Owu, home and abroad, to support Amosun in his second term bid. He has mobilized all the women leaders in the state within and outside APC who are of Owu lineage to vote for Amosun in 2015 gubernatorial election.

“I learnt he convened a meeting of Owu indigenes in his house in Abeokuta a couple of weeks back, where the issue was raised and it was endorsed by all. And they all pledged their support for Amosun. Even, one of the former PDP chieftains who just defected to APC was also in attendance.”

Meanwhile, a member of the defunct G15 during the Gbenga Daniel-led administration in the state who spoke to ENCOMIUM Weekly under the condition of anonymity also confirmed that Amosun is enjoying good rapport with the former Head of State and President. Not only that, OBJ is also one of his pillars of support right now, morally and financially.

“I don’t think it’s news anymore that Baba has declared his support for Governor Amosun. Their relationship can only be said to be waxing stronger now. Just few weeks, Baba held a meeting with us in Abeokuta where the issue of Amosun’s second term topped the agenda. OBJ is more or less an APC man not PDP at all. He has told all of us from Owu lineage to support Amosun irrespective of party affiliations. Baba and Amosun are like father and son. They are really in good terms.  Very soon, Obasanjo will campaign for him in the open.”
