Ogun 2015 guber race! ‘Gang-up against Amosun will fail’ – APC

THE ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has stated that its candidate and incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun will emerge victorious in the 2015 governorship election, in spite of the gang-up against him by other political parties in the state.

This was made known to ENCOMIUM Weekly by the party’s spokesman in the state, Mr. Sola Lawal when we contacted him on Saturday, October 11, 2014, on the chances of the governor surviving the political tide in the state at the moment and the alleged gang-up by other political giants including the two former governors of the state, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel.  Lawal said, “My brother, there is nothing to fear.  Such a thing is expected in politics.  Even, outside politics, there is gang-up.  So, what are we talking about?  Whether or not some people gang up against Governor Amosun, he will still win.  Everybody in Ogun State that has modicum of decency will want Amosun back in 2015.  It’s only those with selfish agenda that will go against that.

“Amosun is people’s candidate, and he is living to their expectation. So, any form of gang-up against him will fail.  Whatever those in the opposition camps may be doing has nothing to do with the success of our party in the 2015 general elections in the state.”

Asked to shed light on former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s alleged romance with APC and his rumoured support for Amosun in particular, he reacted, “Yes, it can’t be far from the truth.  It’s a welcome development if Obasanjo works for APC.  It’s also to confirm what I told you that every well meaning and right thinking indigene of Ogun State will surely work for Amosun’s return for the second term.  Obasanjo is our father and is one of the well meaning indigenes of Ogun State.  So, if he so wishes to declare for APC openly, he is very much welcome.”

Meanwhile, a couple of days back, the party leadership in the state was said to have had a closed door meeting with the Ota farmer at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to an inside source, top on the agenda of the meeting was how Governor Amosun would rule the state for another term of four years to enable him complete the development projects he had embarked on in the state.

The source said further, “APC leadership in the state has truly met with OBJ, and the meeting was very successful.  Baba was impressed by Amosun’s performance, that’s why he has no choice other than support him.  And come 2015, I am quite sure he is going to work for APC in the state, and even beyond.  All these visits by PDP stalwarts within and outside the state is just like medicine after death.  He is no longer in good terms with PDP.”
