Ogun to employ more health workers

The Ogun State government has assured that it would soon employ more medical health workers, including doctors, to further improve the health care delivery process in public hospitals across the state.

Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa stated this while addressing members of the State chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), who had embarked on a peaceful protest to the governor’s office.

Adeoluwa said the Ogun State government, under the leadership of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has always accorded health care delivery priority.

The SSG added that despite its huge investment in the sector over the years and the current economic challenges facing the nation, government would not rest on its oars but would continue to do more to ensure Ogun citizens enjoy the best medical care.

“When we came in 2011, the entire medical workforce then was a little above one thousand, but within the first one year, we added about one thousand more.

“We know that there are still a lot to be done and with the help of the almighty God, we will not disappoint you,” Adeoluwa added.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of the NMA in the state, Dr. Abayomi Olajide, who commended government for its giants stride in infrastructural development, stressed the need for government to employ more medical workers in its hospitals.
