Okotie’s church celebrates GRACE 2018

The Household of God Church is once again preparing to celebrate the annual GRACE Programme. This year’s event comes up on Sunday, the 16th of December by 5:30pm at the church in the Oregun area of Lagos. The annual end of year event which was instituted by Reverend Chris Okotie and was first celebrated in the year 1990, has been held in the month of December ever since.

Reverend Okotie has over the years emphasized that the GRACE Programme is the extension of the ministry of the church that he pastors to the larger Nigerian society. This underlines the acronym – GRACE, which is defined as God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.

The Household of God church demonstrates the Christian ethic of giving through the program. Several organizations are regularly given cash donations which have increased in value through the years to support their work in reaching out to specific groups with special needs in the society.

These beneficiaries include, The Strong Tower Mission, The Pacelli School for the Blind, The Spinal Chord Injuries Association and the Sunshine Foundation. All of these beneficiaries have been proven to be consistent in their services to their specific target groups, and each gets N2Million donation.

A later addition to the benevolent disposition of the church is the Karis Award. This is a special recognition of outstanding service to the nation by an individual. The deeper intent of the Karis award is to highlight contributions by Nigerians that have not been acknowledged and celebrated by the government.

Many illustrious Nigerians have been pin-pointed and celebrated by the Household of God church for over twenty years now and some of them have subsequently been recognized and celebrated by the Nigerian government.

Another recent insert into the GRACE is the Queen Esther Costume Pageant. This is a costume competition in which ladies in the church dress up in costumes depicting characters from biblical times. The winner with the adjudged best costume gets a cash prize.
