Olori Wuraola exclusive, speaks on charity concert donations

“We are still expecting money from donors”

Olori Wuraola Zaynab Otiti Ogunwusi finally addressed the concerns of those worried about the donations promised 20 homes at her ‘Give Back’ concert of February 24, 2017, in an exclusive chat with encomium.ng.

The estranged wife of Ooni of Ife (Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi) maintained that disbursement has been delayed by redemption of those who pledged monies.

In the chat, around 3:04 pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, the beautiful Queen explained that only 10 percent of pledges have been redeemed so far.

Here are excerpts from encomium.ng chat with Olori Wuraola…

How successful was the February 24 Give Back concert?

It was successful.  It created a lot of awareness for the project. And our plan was to elevate 20 homes with a section dealing with orphans.

How much was realised?

I can only tell you that only ten percent of the pledges have been redeemed, while we are still working on those yet to fulfill their pledges.

The funds realised is still in The House of Oduduwa Foundation.  We have not spent anything.

We needed to wait to get all our pledges redeemed before disbursements to the homes we plan to elevate.

The money spent on the event was personal.  And it’s because of my passion for orphans. That’s why we did all our best to ensure the event was successful.

We all know it’s difficult to redeem pledges. It’s true many of them pledged, but we are still appealing to them to redeem their pledges.

Once we get enough, we will give the homes. We cannot give one home and not give others. It will cause crisis.

People will think you want to profit from the project?

No! What will l gain from other people’s predicament? I am just passionate about the project. It’s a non-profit-making venture. Just like l said, the plan is to elevate 20 homes. And it’s a continous project. It’s not a year or two year programme.

Have you reached out to the homes?

No. We have not reached out to any. But as soon as the pledges are redeemed, we will do so.

This clarification from Olori Wuraola now settles the confusion over money raised from her February 24 Give Back concert at Eko Hotel (Lagos) where leading entertainers joined royalty and glitterati.
