Olusi brothers fight over LG Chairmanship

Mr. Adetoye Olusi, the Vice Chairman of Lagos Island local government and Mr. Sola Olusi, the Personal Assistant to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, are children of Chief Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, Interim Vice Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), in Lagos State. They are also from the same mother.

The two are in a cold war of sort. The reason for their war of attrition is the Lagos Island chairmanship in 2014. The brothers assume the incumbent, Hon. Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun, after serving his two term, will not be contesting again in 2014.

Mr. Adetoye Olusi, the elder of the two believes that since he has served the incumbent chairman of the LG for two terms as vice chairman, naturally he should be the one to succeed him in 2014. But the younger brother, Sola Olusi does not share in his brother’s aspiration.

His argument is that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had called him to ask what he wanted after serving him for six years, and he told him he wants to be the next chairman of Lagos Island. He has, therefore, vowed that he would not allow his elder brother to be a stumbling block to his political ambition.

He further argued that what else does his brother want after being a supervisory councilor for health for two terms under Mrs. Derin Disu in the same LG and vice chairman for two terms under the incumbent chairman.

Sola further argued that all other Asiwaju Tinubu’s personal assistants with whom he started together six years ago are already holding one political office or the other.

He mentioned Hon. Deji Jakande, who is now a member of House of Representatives representing Somolu Federal Constituency, Hon. Bolaji Muse-Ariyo, who is now the chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government council, Hon. Bashir Oloto, who is now a member of Lagos House of Assembly, representing Lagos Mainland Constituency 1.

He concluded that his own should not be different and if his brother is going to be the stumbling block to his own chance then he is ready to battle him.

He was said to have further argued that as a degree holder from Lagos State University, Ojo, he is more qualified to be the chairman of the LG than his elder brother, who is just a secondary school certificate holder.

All entreaties from their parents and friends of the family, ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered, has not yielded any result from any of the brothers.
