Oluwo Fasola tasks government on African culture

A foremost expert on Yoruba culture and tradition and the Chairman, Ancestral Pride Temple Limited, Ota, Ogun State, Oluwo (Dr) Faniyi Babatunde Fasola, has urged the government to recognize the importance of culture and tradition in nation building.

Oluwo Fasola, who stated this in a chat with newsmen at Ota, Ogun State recently, noted that the Americans and other people outside the continent accord necessary recognition to African culture and tradition, which, according to him, they hold in high esteem.

He appealed to the government to start recognizing the impact of those who profess African religion by according them their rightful place in the scheme of things.

The foremost herbal medical practitioner said the people would feel fulfilled to have every August 20 declared a public holiday in the country to enable the believers to use it as a day set aside for them to appropriate and worship their gods.

Oluwo Fasola stressed that in as much as the christians and muslims were never denied holidays during the Christmas and Sallah respectively, similar gesture should be extended to adherents of traditional religion.

He further explained that he discovered to his consternation while on recent visitation to countries such as Brazil, Paraguay and South Africa that their various governments were seen according adherents of traditional religion their rightful place in the task of building a virile nation.

Speaking on  his various awards, Fasola stated that they were manifestations of the recognition of his contributions to nation building and his dedicated service to the growth of the herbal medical practice in particular and as a worthy custodian of Yoruba culture and tradition in general, adding that the trainings he had under his last dad and knowledge he  acquired as a biochemistry graduate, no doubt, contributed immensely to the positive innovations and productive dynamism that he brought into Ifa divination to the delight and admiration of all and sundry in and outside Yorubaland.
