Onitsha monarch gives kudos to Glo on Ofala Festival

The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, has saluted total telecommunications solutions provider, Globacom for its commitment to the promotion of arts and culture in Nigeria.

The monarch gave kudos to the company in his address at the Ime Obi venue of the 2018 Ofala Festival celebrations which was attended by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and other dignitaries. He described Globacom as a strategic partner which had for eight consecutive years supported the Onitsha Kingdom in promoting and enhancing the festival of the Ndigbo race.

According to him, Globacom had through consistent sponsorship of the ceremony raised the festival’s profile and made it a delightsome destination for international tourists who grace the occasion annually.
The grandmasters of data had in 2011, as part of the promotion of its Heritage Series, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Onitsha Palace to sponsor the festival for a three-year period. The MOU has since been twice renewed.

Igwe Achebe also expressed gratitude to God and the people of the kingdom for their support since he ascended the throne in year 2000 thereby making this year’s edition of the festival the 17th that he celebrated as monarch.
Meanwhile, Globacom had earlier in the week reiterated its determination to make “Ofala the biggest festival ever in Black Africa”. The company had given participants and tourists at the celebrations, the chance of winning several fantastic prizes at the Globacom pavilion within the Ime Obi.

The grand finale of the festival was the Royal Banquet which was put together at Dolly Hills Hotel, Onitsha by the company on Monday, October 8, as a mark of honour to the monarch.
