Ooni Ogunwusi leaves seclusion Nov 21

– As Coronation holds Nov. 30

On Saturday, November 30, 2015, Ile-Ife, the source, will play host to dignitaries from all parts of Nigeria and beyond as the new paramount ruler of the ancient kingdom, Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi,a descendant of Giesi Ruling House will be crowned.

A family source disclosed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that preparations are now in top gear towards the success of the historic event. And different Ankara aso ebi fabrics are currently in circulation.

The new Ooni, we were told, will be completing his traditional rites in Ilofi (seclusion) on Saturday, November 21, 2015. After which, he is required, by tradition to take at least a week’s rest before coronation proper. And during which, he would still be surrounded by the Isoros, chief priest and Ife Kingmakers for further tutelage before ascending his forefathers’ throne officially on Monday, November 30, 2015.

“Ile Ife will turn to a Mecca of sort on Monday, November 30, 2015, for the coronation of the new Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. A lot of activities are lined up for the event. Many illustrious sons and daughters of Ife, home and abroad are warming up for the day. Ife is definitely going to receive people from different parts of the country. I learnt different cultural groups from all parts of Yoruba land are coming to perform aside countless traditional musicians coming from all over the country.

“Osun State government is equally set for the crowning ceremony. The stool is usually the most keenly contested in Yoruba land, and in that respect, the coronation must be very colourful.”

However, ENCOMIUM Weekly, in a bid to confirm the coronation date, got across to one of Ife Kingmakers, Jaaran of Ife, High Chief Adekola Adeyeye, and he said, “Everything is in progress, but coronation date is yet to be announced. You can call me towards the end of the month, I will let you know. It may be towards the end of November or first week in December. It has not been decided yet, but will keep you informed when it’s time.”
