Oshun reveals more intimate details of Alimi’s last days

Honourable Olanrewaju Moshood Oshun, one of the colleagues of Honourable Kazeem Ademola Alimi in the Lagos State House of Assembly spoke glowingly this evening (Wednesday, July 19) about the bulky legislator who passed on at Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja on Tuesday, July 18.

Here’s his tribute to the 50 year old representative of Eti-Osa 1 constituency…

How did you hear about Hon. Alimi’s death?
I was in the hospital on Saturday and Sunday to check him up. Because, i learnt he was admitted on Friday. I was there with the Speaker.  The Speaker was always there to see him. The hospital management worked very hard to save his life. I was in the office yesterday (Tuesday, July 18) when someone called me to ask me about the rumour going round that he has passed on.

I called a colleague of mine who happened to be in the hospital who now confirmed it. Immediately I moved to the hospital where I met Mr Speaker and some members there.

What did they say was the nature of his sickness?

I don’t know. Only his doctor and family are in position to know that.

What will you miss about him?

To be honest with you, I will miss a lot about him. Hon. Ademola Kazeem Alimi was a gentleman to the core. He was one of the quiet members we have in this House. When he is making his submission on the floor of the House, he speaks as if he is in a leisure world. No matter what you say or do to him, he is always smiling. So, for me, I will miss everything.

When it comes to submitting committee assignment, he would be the first to be there. It is a thing of joy for me anytime I am working with him. He was a member of my committee and there are times we will work till 10 pm. So, I am going to miss everything about him. A gentleman, a man of dignity and very honest man. We have very few of his type in politics.
