Osinbajo will sign 2017 budget- Acting President’s aide

Contrary to the uncertainty reportedly fueled by Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the acting President will sign the 2017 budget once it is vetted and approved. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo’s media aide, Laolu Akande, twitted this evening (Wednesday, May 17, 2017), clarifying the government’s position on the budget of N7.44 trillion passed by the National Assembly last week.

Akande, the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Media and Publicity, twitted: ‘Just so we are clear: when the time comes, everything is set, & he is satisfied, Ag. President Yemi Osinbajo will assent to the 2017 Budget.’

Alhaji Lai Mohammed was quoted to have said earlier today that he’s unsure if President Muhammadu Buhari (away on medical vacation in the United Kingdom since Sunday, May 7) or the acting President would assent to the budget. But he later debunked the statement credited to him, clarifying that the Presidency will address the issue when the budget is transmitted to it.
