THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer in the Saturday, August 9, 2014 gubernatorial election in Osun State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore has rubbished the tale that he is the mastermind of the crisis rocking the state. He added that it’s nothing but complete rubbish.
He further described the tale as not only uncalled for but malicious.
Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Monday, July 27, 2015, via his spokesman, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, the controversial politician expressed dissatisfaction about the tale. He, therefore, urged the entire people of Osun State and the general public to disregard the tale totally as there is no iota of truth in it.
“That’s complete rubbish. It’s malicious. What’s Omisore’s business in instigating Osun workers against Aregbesola? Is he the one who is responsible for Aregbesola’s inability to pay workers their entitlements? Or if workers are not paid, won’t they protest? People should just go straight to the point, call a spade a spade instead of beating about the bush.
“Aregbesola has actually shown the people of Osun State that he is not competent to manage the state. He’s a poor manager of resources. And that’s exactly what’s happening in the state now. I believe he should understand the fact that those who work must be paid promptly.
“Now, the government owes the civil servants about seven months salaries and they said they shouldn’t protest against that. That’s arrant nonsense. It’s their right to fight any unfair treatment being meted to them by Aregbesola’s administration.
“I believe it’s clear to them in Osun State now that they voted for the wrong person. They said they wanted change and they have got it now.”
Asked to shed light on Omisore’s radio station, Crown FM, allegedly being used to mobilize the workers against the ruling APC in the state, he reacted, “That’s not true. But there is a radio station called Crown FM in Ife. I am even the Director of the state. And we have a lot of competent hands handling different programmes to the delight of the people of Osun State. It’s not a vessel of causing any destabilization in the administration of Aregbesola.
“There is no way anybody can say we’re using the station to cause confusion in the state or to mobilize Osun workers against Aregbesola. The station is keeping to all the rules of broadcasting as stated by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and it’s also being guided by journalistic ethics. So, those saying that didn’t get it right. They’re only being mischievous.
“Now, the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation is down, workers there are also on strike. So, Crown FM remains the only station the people of Osun State listen to at the moment. Or is it Omisore’s fault that OSBC staffers should also go on strike? So, people should just get their facts right.
“As I speak, workers are still on strike in the state. The governor failed to redeem his pledge. The APC government has turned Osun workers to beggars. Nothing is working presently in the state, health sector is down, schools have been closed, market women are groaning and all that. So, tell me which of these is Omisore’s handiwork. Right now, Omisore doesn’t stay in Ife, he shuttles Lagos and Abuja. So, he can’t be responsible for Aregbesola’s quagmire.”
