Osun workers demand more arrears as Aregbesola pays only December salary

The expectation of Osun governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola that civil servants in the state would resume work after paying one month out of the seven months’ salary arrears has been dashed.
The aggrieved workers have refused to shift ground on the crisis despite collecting their December, 2014 salary on Tuesday, June 30,2015, as part of the governor’s efforts in ensuring that normalcy returns.
One of the workers, Mr. Azeez, who spoke with encomium.ng on Thursday, July 2, 2015 expressed disappointment in Aregbesola, querying his inability to fulfil his responsibilities as the number one indigene of the state. He stressed further that the workers in the state will continue to obey the directives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state until the they are paid fully.
“Yes, we have been paid but just for December 2014 only. That does not mean we will end the strike. He doesn’t have any excuse as all the state allocations have been paid by the Federal Government. We won’t resume until we’re fully paid. It’s no pay, no work.”
Meanwhile, the  governor has, a couple of days back, reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the workers end the one-month industrial action which has crippled both social and economic activities in the state designated as Home of the Living Spring.
