Our Daily Manna publisher, Bishop Chris Kwakpowe escapes assassination

Popular  publisher of the international daily devotional, Our Daily Manna, Bishop (Dr.) Chris Kwakpovwe narrowly escaped death on Friday, January 17, 2014, during a programme at his ultra  modern auditorium at Ogudu, Lagos State, when five men fully armed with sophisticated weapons,  apparently on an assassination mission, stormed the auditorium.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s check on Friday, January 24, 2014 revealed that the marauders came around 10pm. The Bishop was in a programme alongside the choristers preparing for their world anointing service on Friday, January 31, 2014. He stepped out briefly around 9:45 pm to attend to a very urgent issue. Barely had he left when the alleged armed men drove in and went straight to his office shouting, ‘Where is the bishop?’ They shot into the air to scare the worshippers when they couldn’t locate the bishop.

Interestingly, they didn’t steal anything which informed the widespread tale that it could be assassins on rampage.

At the end of the siege, a car belonging to the bishop’s son was vandalized by the assailants who kept asking: “Where is the G.O?” We were reliably informed that the incident has been reported at the Ogudu police station.

On Friday, January 24, 2014, we contacted the amiable publisher cum bishop who confirmed the incident through his media aide, Mr. Julius.

“Yes, it’s true. The unfortunate incident occured on Friday during a programme meant for preparation towards the forthcoming World Anointing Night at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos.  The bishop stepped out around 9:45 pm and the gang breezed in 10 minutes later. They were on a mission as they only went straight for the bishop and were demanding from worshippers where he was. When it dawned on them that he had escaped, they only vandalised his son’s car and left. The matter is being investigated by Ogudu police.”

Since last year, Dr. Chris has been on the receiving end of impersonators and blackmailers in the media and the internet, who take advantage of the liberality of the social media to extort, embarrass and sabotage his public image, because he refused to succumb to their outrageous ransom.

They have, therefore, held him hostage through sustained blackmail and moral terror in an attempt to disrupt the ODM World Anointing Night coming on Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. Last year, the printer of ODM was shot dead.

It should also be noted that, late last year, a prominent national daily newspaper, reported that the publisher, Bishop Kwakpowe, was assassinated at his home by unknown gun men. His full name was printed in the controversial publication!

Even the corrected version that was re-published, still carried his full names!

This caused tears across the nation, especially among ardent readers and beneficiaries of the life-changing devotional booklet, Our Daily Manna (ODM) Worldwide, but findings later show that Dr. Chris was alive and well.

According to the publicist of the ODM publisher, the public should disregard any post on the internet by a faceless group which casts aspersions on the integrity of the bishop. Some distractors who plagiarized the ODM even placed a paid advertorial in one of the dailies, which is now being circulated on the internet as a news item purportedly carried by a top newspaper. Investigations have shown that it is a paid advertorial.

Dr. Chris urged his teeming members and followers worldwide to disregard the actions of these satanic elements, adding that there’s no truth in these publications as they are meant to create confusion and frustrate the anointing service. Let it be on record that one “Rev/Pastor Adedeji and one Mr. Omole” asked him to drop a ransom (N5 million) in a particular unmarked account or risk internet publications. He was told that they are a syndicate and a group of professionals that cannot be stopped because even security agencies are amongst them.
