‘Our hope is still in God’- Synagogue Church of All Nations

The last is yet to be heard of the legal tussle between the Lagos state government and Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) of Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly called TB Joshua over the collapsed guest house of the church which sent about 116 people to early graves. And the situation keeps giving the widely respected seer sleepless nights.

A competent source from the church told ENCOMIUM Weekly that the way the case is being handled has been affecting the programmes of the church since the whole thing started. And that TB Joshua is said to be unhappy about it.

“Man of God is not happy about the way the church is being treated concerning the collapsed guest house as if it was a deliberate occurrence. But one thing we believe is that victory is sure because it’s God that lies our hope. We’re in court on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, but hearing didn’t take place. The case has been adjourned to Wednesday, January 27, 2016.”

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s efforts to seek further reactions of the church via one of its publicists, Mr. Patrick couldn’t yield the desired result as all the calls we put through his mobile phone were ignored. We also sent him a text which was not replied till we went to press.

On Tuesday, January 19, 2016, a Lagos High Court in Ikeja adjourned further proceedings in the charges filed against the Registered Trustees of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) and four others to Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

Also charged alongside the Registered Trustees of SCOAN are Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company, Jandy Trust Limited and engineers Oladele Ogundeji and Akinbela Fatiregun who built the collapsed building.

A Lagos state Coroner court, presided over by Mr. Oyetade Komolafe, had on July 8, 2015,indicted the church of building without approval, adding that the engineers were liable to prosecution for criminal negligence on the grounds that structural defect was responsible for the collapse of the ill-fated guest house which occurred  on September 1, 2014.

In the charges before the court, the Registered Trustees were accused of building without approval while the engineers were charged with involuntary manslaughter.
