‘OUR LOVE STORY’ – Yvonne Jegede and Kunle Fawole

On Saturday, February 4, 2017, beautiful actress Yvonne Jegede and her heartthrob of ten years, Kunle Fawole had their traditional marriage in Surulere, Lagos. The event was attended by friends, colleagues and family members.

ENCOMIUM Weekly had a chat with the excited couple on how they found love.

How does it feel finding love?

Kunle: It is indescribable. I can’t tell you how it feels, it is good to know you are with the right person.

How did it all begin for you?

Kunle: That was many years ago.

Like how many years?

Yvonne: Ten years ago.

Kunle: It is over ten years ago really.

How did your paths cross?

Kunle: We met on the set of Behind the Siege, that was it. After that, we didn’t see each other again until she walked into a studio where I was working.  We exchanged pleasantries and we took it up from there.

What was the attraction?

Kunle: She is beautiful. Over the years, we grew together.

Yvonne: He is very intelligent. The first time he opened his mouth to talk, what caught me was his intelligence. He is good looking as well. It was his intelligence that attracted me.

How did he propose to you?

Yvonne: He planned the proposal, I think you should ask him how he did it.

Kunle: I was at home alone, she went to shoot in Asaba. I knew she was coming back soon because her birthday was close, so I decided to plan something. I told her friend that I would ask her to marry me. I called her friend who was with her in Asaba, I told her of my intention. When she came back from Asaba, she went to shoot again in Festac, it was her birthday that day. She planned to come back early but she called to tell me she would be back late at night. She said she still had more scenes to take, not knowing she was quite close by.

I had gotten the key of the house, I had had made arrangements at home, the cakes were in her room. I called my friends and told them not to allow her enter the house, I was looking at her car as she was driving close home.

When I got home, we moved the cakes to my mom’s room and I went to join them outside, people poured water on her. I brought her the gift and…

(Yvonne cuts in) And he proposed.

How was the feeling like when he proposed to you?

Yvonne: I was surprised.

Does it mean you didn’t see it coming at that time?

Yvonne: He told me a couple of times that he would marry me but I didn’t put my mind in it then. I was like, if he proposed, fine. If not, fine.

Both of you are entertainers, you know most celebrities marriages don’t last, what do you think can keep yours?

Kunle: I am not a celebrity, so this is not a celebrity marriage.

But you are an entertainer?

Kunle: If you say so. That is for us to know and for you guys to figure out. There is no manual to this thing, we would sort ourselves out.

What is your wish in this marriage?

Kunle: Love, companionship, children.

Yvonne: Whatever he wishes is also my wish.

How can you keep your home and manage going on frequent locations at the same time?

Yvonne: Nothing changes, we are just two friends in love and are together. Our life still goes on.

What was your parent’s reaction when you took him home?

(Kunle cuts in) They love me. They saw a person that they liked. My father in-law is my best friend.

Why did you opt for a secret wedding?

Yvonne: We were avoiding people like you.

Kunle: We wanted something of our taste. Just to get married and not a carnival like wedding.

How many children are you planning to have?

Kunle: When you get invitation to the naming ceremony you would know.

Are you sure you would not have a flash back on spinsterhood on account of you being a beautiful woman whom every man would like to fall for?

Yvonne: No, I can’t do that. There is no need for that. Even when I was single and engaged, I never had a flashback on my life as a single lady.

What have you two been up to career wise?

Yvonne: I am back to work. I am doing Nollywood and my own thing on the other side. That is all.

Kunle: I am on standby. I am talking to some people about some of my interests. We are just taking it easy, one day at a time.

How did you celebrate your valentine?

Our friends came over to celebrate with us.

What does Valentine mean to you?

Kunle: The same thing it means to everybody, everybody wears red and celebrates love.

Yvonne: A gift of love.

Your most memorable gift from her.

Kunle: Twelve cup cakes.

Yvonne: His love.
