D’Banj and Don Jazzy

At some point, it seemed everything Don Jazzy and D’Banj touched turned to gold, it was a match made in heaven! The duo’s chemistry was unmatched, and together they churned out hits after hits and stars after stars.

Their split in 2012 still hurts some till today, with many calling for their reunion.

Plantashun Boiz

Nigeria’s very own all boys RnB and Hip hop group, a la West Life and Boys to Men. At a point in the late 1990s and 2000s, Plantashun Boiz held the music scene with their vocals, lyrics and delivery but broke up in 2004.

Blackface, 2Face and Faze have since launched solo careers to different success levels.

Styl Plus

Almost every 20-something year old loved the music of this trio back in the early 2000s.

Shifi, Tunde and Zeal became darlings after their hit, ‘Olufunmi’ was released in 2004. They followed it up with other hit love-themed singles like ‘Runaway’, ‘Call my name’ until they decided to pursue solo careers.

The Remedies

With a fine combination of three talented artistes – Tony Tetuila, Idris Abdulkareem and Eddie Montana – The Remedies became a household name in the 1990s; ruling the airwaves with several popular tunes including ‘Omode meta shere’ and ‘Shakomo’.

They are regarded pioneers of hip hop in Nigeria, but it all sadly came crashing down after a few years.

Maintain

This group which was made up of Olu, Tolu and Big Bamo made a great impact in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Some of their hit songs include, Dormitilla, I Catch Cold, and’I am looking for a Wifey. After their break-up, all three launched solo music careers with Olu the most successful.
