PETER and LOLA OKOYE’S wedding gulped N150 million

–  Couple shunned honeymoon

1-DSC_5447ABOUT N150 million went into the Sunday, November 17, 2013 Peter and Lola Okoye traditional/engagement ceremony, an inside source has revealed.  The lovebirds got engaged in style with high profile entertainers and businessmen in attendance.  It was a ceremony that redefined high society shindig.

The couple deployed all within their means, and contracted the best wedding vendors for their big day.

The wedding, described as one of the most lavish in recent times, had Perfect Coordinators operated by the duo of Ngozi Akinrujoye and Omorinsola Arogundade in charge of affairs.

DSC_4982The planners, armed with the huge budget which included their professional fee, recruited vendors for the event.  The venue alone took over N2.5 million from the N150 million, another fee of N1 million refundable fee was paid for damages.  The venue, The Ark, at Lekki second roundabout, is a dome shaped marquee built within a well appointed vicinity.  The place, fully air conditioned and highly insulated, has capacity for 1,650 guests for banquet and 2,200 guests for theatre setting.  About N10 million went into food alone.  Six catering companies were on duty.  They provided all the variety of dishes. On stand were Kemabom Catering, Demo Ultimate Small Cohps, Elshaddai Catering Services, Aluoma Kitchens, Fingerlicks Catering Services, Hampton Catering Services and 12 Baskets Foods Limited.

The exotic champagnes and other drinks cost the couple N15 million, as provided by Bonix Drinks.  Most of the drinks were imported from Europe specifically for the wedding.

The decoration didn’t come cheap.  This was put together by Christine Itegbe-Ogbe’s The Wedding Guru.  She came all the way from Abuja.  Her company brought in crystals which shone brilliantly with silver and white and a little touch of purple.  The only company that can equal The Wedding Guru in terms of décor is Victoria F operated by Victoria Folarin.   Christine is said to have pocketed N20 million for her services.  The security of the venue was provided by Kunle Komolafe’s K-Square Security.  The company pocketed N2 million.

There was also another cost for hiring mobile police men who pallied with K-Square to keep street urchins at bay.

A lot of money also went into the couple’s attires.  Peter and Lola Okoye dazzled in beautiful clothes.  And for Lola’s make-up, Banke Meshida-Lawal’s BM Pro was called to duty.  She got scores of thousands for her services.  She was also responsible for the beautiful looks of some of Lola’s friends at the nuptials including their neck pieces which is from her Coral Reefs Collection.

For entertainment, Sharp Band was in the house.  We learnt they were handsomely paid for their services, but one couldn’t ascertain whether DJ Stramborella who was in the house was paid.  Sources revealed the DJ maybe offering his service for free.  Since P-Square are also entertainers who may give him a good contract job in future.

There are other areas where a lot of money was spent, like the ATM invite, the programme and others.

The engagement will go down as one of the most expensive in Nigeria going by the glamour and the class on display.  Billionaires Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija led other prominent Nigerians to the event.  The couple already have been blessed with two children, Cameron and Aliona.  The first is four and the second just less than one.

LOLA OMOTAYO-OKOYE’S OCCUPATION

Newly married Lola Omotayo-Okoye presently works at her father’s oil and gas company in Lagos.  The light-skinned mother of two children is an Executive Director at Silco Drilling and Completion Services, a Lagos-based oil and gas company.

Before now, however, she was in the employment of FK:G2, a marketing communications firm owned by Czar of advertising, Biodun Shobanjo.  She was also once a business strategist at Airtel Nigeria, where she resigned to take up appointment at Daily Times.  She moved to FK:G2 shortly after she started working at Daily Times.

PETER AND LOLA OKOYE SHUN HONEYMOON

Peter (P-Square) Okoye and his new wife and mother of his children, Lola Okoye will not be going for honeymoon now.  This is because shortly after their talk of the town engagement ceremony on Sunday, November 17, 2013, Peter and his brother, Paul jetted out to Tanzania to commence their world tour.  P-Square’s publicist confirmed the development to us, maintaining they are out of the country for now.

WHERE THE CELEBRITY COUPLE WOULD MAKE THEIR MATRIMONIAL HOME

Celebrity couple, Peter and Lola Okoye don’t have a problem of where to make their matrimonial home. It is either their eye-popping Holloway Road, Omole Phase 1, Ikeja, Lagos twin duplex or their multi-million naira palatial edifice in Parkview, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Those in the know are, however, say that the newly-wed would continue to dwell in their Omole GRA home, pending the completion and opening of their structure in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.

“For now, Peter and Lola would still be living here (that is Omole) until Parkview is completed.  Trust Peter, he might even remain here with Lola.  You never can tell,” said an ENCOMIUM Weekly’s source.

The Okoyes who have hit it big in the music industry are into property.  And they have been building this up in the last few years.

Authoritative sources tell ENCOMIUM Weekly their property portfolio is in excess of N1.5 billion!

And they are still investing in and outside their Lagos base.

WHY SOME MUSIC STARS MISSED P-SQUARE’S WEDDING

Music stars like D’Banj, Wande Coal, Naeto C, Mr. Raw, Ikechukwu who are close to the Okoyes did not grace the occasion because they were not in town.  While some had shows outside Lagos, even performing outside our shores.  Those who have a special bond with the couple, however, did send words to them, wishing them marital bliss.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s effort to hear directly from them proved abortive as their media minders and reps said they wouldn’t speak for them.
