Participants’ response from Makeup in Nigeria Conference 2014

Esther Oluwayemisi Adekunle, Ekure Poise

What’s your experience at the conference?

It was very informative, I would say. I specifically loved the sessions with Lola Maja, on creative theatrical makeup and Khuraira Musa. I enjoyed the whole experience, from the networking with other makeup artists. It was exciting and I think this is an avenue for makeup in Nigeria to upgrade. With time, we would be taken serious in Nigeria because we have become an industry.

What impact will the conference have on your career?

I think this conference will inspire me take my makeup career more serious. This conference clearly showed that makeup is now more than just a hubby, but a full time career.

OLUWO KADIJA, House of Tara’s graduate

What’s your experience at the conference?

It was really nice. Getting to meet other makeup artistes from across the country. Also meeting experts like Buntricia Bastain and those I look up to in the industry. It’s just wonderful! I got to ask questions and got answers about things I didn’t know. Overall, it was wonderful!

What impact will the conference have on your career?

It will really impact my career because I learnt a lot from the conference. I will apply all I have learnt to become better.

Why do you love makeup?

I have always loved makeup even when I was younger. I used to repaint pictures from books, giving them the make-over I thought they should have. Even my mom used to make people up while I was growing. I took after my mom, so, I just love to make up people.

What’s your experience at the conference?

It’s very educative and informative. An eye-opener and mind-blowing, is the best I can describe it. Before now, I used to think I was some pro in makeup, but after today, I now know I have some ways to go with a lot of things to learn. Now, my scope in makeup has been broadened

NUELLA ONWAIBE, Nuella Martins Pro, Abuja

What’s your experience at the conference?

Woah! It’s been wonderful! There has never been anything like it in Nigeria. This is a platform for both aspiring and professional makeup artists to interact and share ideas to grow the industry. Before now, we used to be relegated backstage. Now is our time to be recognized like the other sectors in the entertainment industry. We have to be given due recognition.

TEMISAN OWANDRU, Face Masters Beauty Studio

What’s your experience at the conference?

In one word, awesome! I don’t have any regret attending this conference despite the fee. I’ve learnt a lot, especially from the master classes we had. I must say that I have been upgraded attending this conference.
