Pastor 2016 predictions of bliss, misery and sorrow: The failed and fulfilled predictions of 2015

As is the custom, pastors revealed their predictions for 2015, and they bordered on the general elections, Chibok girls, etc.

We review the ones that were fulfilled and those that were not.

“Nigeria will not divide” – W.F Kumuyi

The General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F Kumuyi, in December 2014, during a media briefing ahead of the Deeper Life Bible Church three-day crusade at Eiyenkorin in Ilorin, Kwara, said Nigeria remains an indivisible entity despite all its challenges.

In his words, “God has a purpose for Nigeria. When people talk of division, the truth is that once you start the process, it never ends. Once you say, ‘people in the North, go your way and those in the South, go your way,’ there are other people who will also rise up to say they too want to go their own way even within you. You know what happened in the 1960’s; several sides will begin to be asked to go away but I know that God has a purpose for bringing Nigeria together and we shall remain one.”

True to the prediction of the soft-spoken preacher, Nigeria has since remained an indivisible nation, despite the threats posed by Boko Haram and recent Biafra-inspired protests in the south east.

RCCG’s Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Daddy G.O, as he is fondly called, made a number of revelations for 2015 – some came to pass; others, not so much.

He predicted that there would be “scientific and medical breakthroughs, particularly in the areas of insomnia – lack of sleep, dreams and brain disorders at the international level,” and that “Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, would die out”.

He also predicted that insurgencies all over the world will be considerably weakened. He asked for prayers against massive calamities like earthquakes, strong hurricane and typhoons.

Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), true to his prediction, died out with the United Nations (UN) declaring Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea – territories previously ravaged by the disease – Ebola free.

There were also “massive calamities like earthquake, strong hurricane and typhoons” with England recording the “wettest December in a century” last month, and “about 16,000 properties flooded”, according to Liz Truss, the environment secretary.

The 7.8 magnitude Nepal earthquake in April, which killed over 8,000 people and injuring 21,000, was another massive calamity in the year. The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, trapping victims at 20,000 feet and killing at least 19, the deadliest on the mountain in history, according to reports.

His prediction on terrorism was only partly fulfilled. In Nigeria, Boko Haram has been “considerably weakened” with territories previously occupied by the sect recovered by the military. However, internationally, the Islamic State (IS) arguably became stronger with attacks on Paris (which claimed about 130 lives) and San Bernardino, California.

“The Chibok girls will return home alive” -Pastor Tunde Bakare

Leader of Latter Rain Assembly and one-time vice presidential aspirant, Pastor Tunde Bakare declared that the schoolgirls abducted from Chibok, Born o in 2014 would return home in 2015.

He predicted this during the church’s crossover service into the New Year.

Speaking on the return of the girl, the cleric noted that Nigeria would enjoy extraordinary grace from God this year, which would see the return of the missing girls.

His words, “The Chibok girls will be returned this year; some people will say ‘they are just using religion to deceive themselves. How will the girls be rescued?’ You will see. I didn’t say it, it is what God said and I believe it.”

Unfortunately, till date, the whereabouts of the girl is yet unknown.

“The Lord will return His Excellency, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to his presidential seat”

– Prophet Michael Olubode, Celestial Church of Christ

His prediction on the outcome of the presidential contest in April, “I want to let the people of Nigeria know that The Lord will return His Excellency, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to his presidential seat. Despite many that hate him, it pleases the Lord God of Celestial to increase his tenure at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock. The Lord revealed to me that the purpose of making him remain in government is to use him to build Nigeria’s economy. He will surely bring good luck to us.”

It failed, Jonathan was ousted from the presidential villa after his loss at the polls.

He went further to release prophesies on the economy of the nation. He stated, “Contrary to many beliefs, Nigeria will soon come out of her troubles and stride gloriously to her leading position in the midst of great nations of the world.”

Nigeria’s economy sank to a new low in 2015, with declining oil prices hitting the country hard and the naira crashing.

Brother Joshua Iginla, Champions Royal Assembly, Abuja

Champions Royal Assembly’s Brother Joshua Iginla released shocking predictions about events in 2015, both in Nigeria and the world at large.

His words, “In my vision, I saw a giant hand bigger than the continent of Africa upholding Nigeria. And God said there is nothing kept in His hands that can fall. The prophecy that Nigeria will split won’t come to pass. You can see the signs but it will never come to pass.”

This came to pass, Nigeria is still a united nation.

Continuing, he predicted: “There will be shakings in 2015 and it will be so serious. Both the big and small will feel it greatly. No matter how powerful or well organized 2015 election is, it will be faulted. I see a lot of litigations, disagreements and court cases because the mindset of many prior to the election is so dangerous. I am not a politician nor belong to any political party, I am just speaking God’s mind.”

Till date, there are pending court cases following the general elections.
