– 7 months after suspension over flamboyant wedding
Seven months after suspension, Pastor William Kumuyi has reinstated his son, Pastor John Kumuyi to the pulpit. Information available to ENCOMIUM Weekly revealed that the holiness preacher and General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church has forgiven his erring son, who was suspended in June 2013, over his controversial wedding to his bride, Love Odih, on Saturday, June 15,2013, in Jamaica. According to our source, he pardoned him few weeks back and allowed him to return to the altar.
A spokesperson for the ministry who pleaded anonymity on Friday, February 21, 2014, said, “You know it’s been a long while and the issue has been resolved amicably and there is no need to make any noise out of it. He has been pardoned.”
Barely three weeks after the controversial wedding of John, on Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Jamaica, Pastor Kumuyi suspended him from the pulpit. He was penalised on account of his bride, Love, who flouted the church rules by using make up, earrings and other flashy ensemble that accompanied a fitted wedding gown. The gown also had see- through sleeves.
It was reported in ENCOMIUM Weekly that the controversial nuptials started generating heat even before the wedding day. Some leaders of the ministry who attended the wedding had condemned and rejected the first wedding gown purchased by the couple as it revealed sensitive parts of her body.
The couple, we learnt, promised to change the wedding gown on Friday, June 14, 2013, just a day to the wedding .Sadly, the leaders didn’t see the new wedding gown until the delectable bride whose father is the superintendent for Jamaica zone of Deeper Life appeared at the church where the wedding took place.
“The bride adorned accessories considered worldly and rejected by the ministry. She was clad in a transparent fitted stylish short sleeved wedding gown, eyelashes, earrings, makeup and wedding flower which had not happened before in the church. The wedding sparked off huge controversies among the church members who felt betrayed that the deviation came directly from the top of the ministry’s ladder. Among issues was the hiring of a limousine which conveyed them to the venue. And a huge cake which contradicted the tradition of the ministry that frowns on flamboyance.”
