Pasuma, My Lagos, ‘If you want to be successful, leave wherever you are and come down to Lagos’

The Fuji star abandoned Mushin for Omole to mix with the elite…

Where do you live in Lagos and why?

I live in Omole, Ikeja and it’s because I want a stable place for myself. A place where I can mix with educated people.

What’s your earliest Lagos experience?

Back then, I used to play football all around town, that was when I was still in Mushin.

Where were you born and where did you grow up?

I was born in Mushin and I grew up there. I did my primary and secondary education in Mushin. I finished from Mushin Primary School and later went to Nigerian Model Secondary School. I’ve lived in Mushin all my life.

What do you like most about Lagos?

Lagos is cool. Despite the congestion in Lagos, I still see Lagos as number one. If you want to be a successful person, you have to leave wherever you are and come down to Lagos. Everyone believes that you have to come to Lagos before you can make it in Nigeria. Be you a Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa man. They’ll tell you that you have to come to Lagos before you can make it. So, everybody believes that Lagos is the centre of business in Nigeria.

What do you hate most about Lagos?

Let’s just say the traffic. And water. The water is dirty, then the light is so erratic. The only time I enjoy light is when I am outside the country. I don’t have to iron my clothes a day before because of electricity. There’s nothing like that abroad. Just help us appeal to the government because it’s really getting out of hand. And maybe they’ll digitize NEPA so that we can have constant power supply.

What’s your favourite Lagos hangout?

I love hanging out in my house. But at times I go to Do It All because the owner is a friend and they like Pasuma’s music and I have to appreciate them.

Who is your favourite Lagos celebrity?

I don’t know because I have a lot of them. If I am to pick one I should say Baba Agba Asiwaju, the first citizen of Lagos.

Where do you shop in Lagos?

Mega Star at times and B on Allen, Ikeja.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

My new record. We haven’t given it a title yet. Maybe we’ll give it to you in two or three weeks time.
