Patrick Sawyer’s chain of Ebola victims

The late Liberian Patrick Sawyerr was the first casualty of the deadly Ebola virus. His death, however sparked strings of other deaths, now risen to seven in Nigeria.
Patrick Sawyerr died on Friday, July 25, 2014, at First Consultants Medical Center, Lagos, where he was admitted upon arrival in Lagos.
An unnamed nurse who worked at First Consultants Medical Center, Lagos died shortly from the virus on August 5, 2014.
Mr. Jatto Abdulqudir, a 36 years old ECOWAS office member in Lagos, who was infected with the virus by Sawyerr also kicked the bucket one week after the nurse’s death. Mr. Jatto was infected with the virus when he welcomed late Patrick Sawyer to Nigeria and he was buried in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Then came Justina Ejelonu, the fourth person to have died from the virus in Nigeria. She too attended to Patrick Sawyerr when he was brought to First Consultants Medical Center, Lagos. Justina Ejelonu, 25, was one of the primary contacts with late Sawyer at First Consultants, Lagos. Justina died on August 14, 2014.
Justina Ejelonu, who was planning her wedding infected her fiance, Dennis Akagha with the virus. He (Dennis) is free from the virus after being treated comprehensively.
On Tuesday August 19, 2014, Nigeria recorded another death. Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh passed on at the Lagos Mainland Hospital, Lagos. She was also infected with the virus by Patrick Sawyer.
The chains of death continued with the passing on of Dr Iyke Sam Enemuo, who was reported to have died on August 22, 2014. He died at Good Heart Hospital, GRA Port Harcourt, Rivers state. He got infected with the virus when he handled the case of one ECOWAS diplomat, Koye Olu-Ibukun who escaped from a quarantine center in Lagos to Port Harcourt.
Dr Enemuo who ran a clinic on East West road in Rumuokoro. Rivers state treated the diplomat in hotel. He died while the diplomat survived to tell his story.

Five persons got the virus from late Dr. Enemuo. They are his wife Mrs. Enemuo, who is still being quarantined in Lagos, his sister, Chinyere. An unnamed old woman who shared the same room with Dr. Enemuo at the hospital was reported dead from the virus on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. A doctor and a pharmacist who were staff of Sam Steel Clinic, a health facility founded by Enemuo have also gotten the virus and are under intensive examination.
