PDP concedes defeat – Jonathan, Fayose congratulate Buhari on victory

With the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) clearly in unassailable lead, President Goodluck Jonathan has conceded defeat and congratulated the president-elect on his victory, this is according to the APC spokesperson.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed told newsmen in Abuja that President Jonathan called Buhari to congratulate him on wining the presidential election with the announcement.

In his words: “The President called General Buhari at 5:15pm this evening to congratulate him for emerging victorious.”

In the same vein, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti has called on Nigerians to accept the outcome of the election saying “the election result is the will of God and Nigerians, and all lovers of peace, progress and development of Nigeria must accept it.”

Fayose, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, hailed the resilience and commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.

He noted that the election results should not been seen as victory or loss for any political party.
