Police crackdown on rough sleepers in London

British police, today (August 29), rounded up rough sleepers across London in its crackdown efforts on illegal immigrants and begging.

Scotland Yard officers questioned several people as they targeted “hotspots” for homeless foreign travelers with about 40 eastern Europeans removed from Marble Arch.

Several groups of rough sleepers were also rounded up in places such as Camden, Croydon, Islington, Lambeth and Southwark. Police checked their immigration status and whether they were wanted for any crimes.
