Prices drop, but Nigerians are still groaning

Nigerians are happy that that inflation is going down but how much of it is reflected in their lives and pockets?

Here are some comments… what Nigerians have to say about it.

Tony Solomon

I don’t believe it. If inflation is going down, it should reflect in our pockets. Prices of things can go down but there is no money to buy them. There is no money anywhere, people are still complaining. The drop in inflation is not reflecting in our pockets, so I don’t agree with them.

Esther Adeoye

I am happy that inflation is dropping but honestly, I am not yet feeling it. I was in the market three days ago and I noticed that prices of goods have dropped as well but there is no money to purchase those goods. We are still struggling to survive, we are not yet feeling that decrease really.

Tope Oladare

I think I quite agree with you that inflation has dropped a little more. I can remember about a month ago when inflation started dropping, things were still so difficult and prices of things weren’t crashing.  Let us be patient and wait a little bit longer for a further drop in inflation maybe things would improve a little bit.

Mrs. Agnes Obuba

Yes, I agree that inflation is rapidly dropping to a very large extent. This is because it is no news that commodities in the market are gradually coming down. I am not really feeling the heat of recession compared to what it was. Things are becoming less expensive especially foodstuffs. But the problem is that money is not circulating as it should be that is why people are yet to believe that inflation is dropping

I am not too good in  Economics, but I believe things are getting better. Just a slight relief though.

Tobi Aremu

Yes, inflation might be dropping but how do we prove that among the masses. I can barely eat two square meal a day, I have lost so much weight that people are asking me questions. I don’t agree with them. Maybe on paper in their office but in the market and in our pockets no. When I can eat two square meal a day and I don’t struggle to pay house rent and school fees, then inflation has dropped.

Bose Jennifer

I don’t think so, it is not reflecting at all. Maybe the international market is enjoying that but not in Nigeria. Things are still very expensive in Nigeria.

Zainab Ajoke

I don’t think so. Things are still on the high side. Transportation is also on the high side too. I spend half of my salary on transportation. I can’t agree with them till we have a relief.

Hamzat Folorunsho

It may not be far from the truth.

A bag of garri and rice now sell lower likewise other foodstuffs, except beans which stays at the old price. It is in the case of foodstuffs I can only speak regarding the economy because I am involved.

Ebere Uguuoke

Maybe at the Aso Rock and with the finance minister, yes but on the street no. You don’t know what people are going through out there.

A lot of people have lost their jobs, business is not moving, men are struggling to pay house rent more than ever. I have not eaten today, all my clothes have faded. Until I get a slight relief in all the above, I wouldn’t agree with them. Prices of things are dropping little by little but there is no money to buy the things that are coming down
