Renowned, erudite speaker, Kenya’s Prof. P. Lumumba, will be the Main Speaker at this year’s “FELA DEBATES”, the Symposium/Lecture segment of the annual FELABRATION. He will be speaking on “WHITHER THE PAN AFRICAN DREAM, 20 Years After FELA & 40 Years After FESTAC ’77”?
He will be sharing the stage with equally distinguished and seasoned media professionals, Nigeria’s Kadaria Ahmed and Abraham Ogbodo, as moderators..
The event comes up on Monday October 9, 2017, inside the Hall of The NECA Event Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos at 11am promptly.
This 2017 edition is the 9th in the FELA DEBATES Series created to intellectually espouse and eternalise FELA’S ideas and ideals. Over the years, foremost African intellectuals and thinkers have graced the FELA DEBATES stage, either as Speakers or Moderators.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Vice President Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Ex-Governor Donald Duke, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, Femi Falana SAN, Ms Sefi Atta, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo of Trinity House, African Phillosopher/Professor Emeritus; Sophie Oluwole, Dr. Carlos Moore, Kunle Ajibade, Prof Chidi Odinkalu, Dr.. Oby Ezekwesili are a few of such names.
And the discourse had always sought to forge a better/alternative path for Africa. This year is no exception. However, that is how far the similarities go with this year’s event.
2017, the year of “the Prophesy”, as this year’s theme goes, is different.. It is the first time the debates present one major Speaker as against the usual panel of about five. First time two moderators are used.
It is 20 years since FELA left for the Greater Beyond and the FELABRATION ORGANISING COMMITTEE is repackaging the Global Event with unprecedented contents while maintaining the founding vision.
Prof. Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba this year’s celebrated Speaker is a Kenyan, born July 17, 1962, was the Director of Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission and currently the Director of the Kenya School of Laws since 2014.
Lumumba is an eloquent lawyer who holds a Ph.D in Laws from the University of Ghent, Belgium.
A staunch Pan Africanist who has delivered several powerful speeches on African Solutions To African Problems. One of such is the emotion laden/energetic speech in Uganda at the third Anti-Corruption Convention.
