Professor Johnbull counsels parents on importance of proper parental guidance

“A single Mistake”, the 13th episode of the on-going Glo-Sponsored TV comedy series, Professor Johnbull, came on air on Tuesday night on NTA network, NTA International (Channel 251 on DSTV) and NTA on Startimes with the programme condemning the inordinate lust for material things that is rampant in the country today.

The center of attraction is Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko) who, apart from her fake lifestyle, was involved in dating a married man instead of studying for her examinations and she faced the consequence in the long run.

It all started when Professor Johnbull (Kanayo O. Kanayo) met his daughter, Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye), who was studying in the living room with her two legs fully placed in a bowl of water and he asked “Is this the new way of assimilation?” to which she replied “ This is my worst course in school,” emphasizing that she needed to concentrate. When the Professor asked about Jumoke, her reading partner, Elizabeth explained that Jumoke had only slept in the house twice since she moved in to the Professor’s residence to join her in preparing for their examination.

The Professor later met Jumoke who had just been dropped by her married lover at the gate of his house and she lied that she was coming from a singles’ all-nightservice in the Church. “Dressed like this?” he asked, referring to her revealing dress.  He then cautioned her on her style of dressing saying: “A goat lying on the floor, lies on its own skin.”

The Professor then proceeded to the gate where he met Abadnego (Martins Nebo) arguing with a lady who said she was looking for a lady called Candy. The Professor subsequently intervened and asked her, “who are you and what is your predicament?” Just as she was introducing herself as Madam Doris, Jumoke and Elizabeth came out. “Look at her,” Madam Doris screamed and pounced on Jumoke, who fell down after she received heavy blows from the woman who turned out to be the wife of Jumoke’s lover. The “prevaricator” was, however, rescued and taken inside Professor’s residence where she was treated.

While the treatment was going on, she became restless and complained of stomach ache. She immediately rushed to the toilet to urinate. She made repeated trips to the toilet which prompted Elizabeth to ask her privately, “Now tell me what transpired between you and that man, have you guys been seeing each other in a clandestine affair?” Elizabeth had barely finish before Jumoke rushed to the toilet yet again. She came back later and assured Elizabeth that she was fine.

Meanwhile, Jumoke’s sister, Sikira (Helen Paul), who came from their Village, Ajanlekoko, was spotted at the gate, and Carol (Mercy Johnson Okojie), Professor’s house maid, immediately rushed to the house to inform Jumoke who had always boasted that her family was in Switzerland. On sighting her sister, Jumoke rebuked her for coming, and gave her the keys to her apartment. She told Sikira to go and hide there.
Jumoke then came back to tell Professor and his family that the lady was just a member of their Yoruba club “Association of Oduduwa’s Children” who came to collect her monthly contribution. This mischief shocked Carol to the bone marrow and she protested loudly saying “sharaaaaap! Asi ocha (white lies).

Jumoke later met Baba Fakunle, (Sikira’s husband) who came to look for his wife at Olaniyi’s shop and again she rushed to the toilet. But this time, she fainted and was rescued by Olaniyi who, together with Baba Fakunle, brought her to Professor’s residence. The Professor who said she looked terrible then told them to take her to the hospital immediately for treatment. It was obvious at this stage that she had contracted an infection.

Condemning the loose behavior and uncultured attitude of today’s youth, Professor Johnbull said, “What young people call ‘runs’ is bad and dangerous. The inordinate lust for material things in the society especially among students can lead to situations that can damage them permanently or lead to death”. He then concludes that “Jumoke has made a mistake, but I must educate her to ensure there is no repeat of such. Parents, all hands must be on deck so that we can continuously educate our children not to lead wayward lives”.
