Professor Johnbull, Glo TVC, joins campaign against multiple taxation

The issue of multiple taxation has been of major concern to corporate organisations in the country, especially small and medium enterprises. The matter is on the front burner in this week’s episode of the TV Drama Series, Professor Johnbull, sponsored by telecommunications operator, Globacom.

Tagged “Tax and Revenue”, the episode will be broadcast at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes.

According to Globacom, sponsor of the sitcom, the “new episode is meant to draw the attention of the authorities to the challenges entrepreneurs face in the hands of the multiple Task Forces set up by the various governments to collect taxes, revenues and rates”.

“It is a fact that some businesses are closing down, while many others are struggling under the weight of multiple taxation. There are different Task Forces everywhere and many of them cash in on revenue drive by governments to exploit the people. The result is that Small and Medium Scale businesses are going down. The purpose of  Tax and Revenue  is to draw the attention of the authorities to the imminent crisis that may plague the economy if not addressed”, the company added.

Globacom urged viewers to watch the new episode which it described as “an elucidation on what constitutes multiple taxation; what citizens are expected to do when confronted by task forces on revenue and what rights the citizens have as well as their obligations to the state in terms of taxes, rates and revenues”.

As usual, the regular characters in the sitcom including Professor Johnbull (Kanayo O. Kanayo), Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye) (Yomi Fash-Lanso), Mai Doya (Funky Mallam), Etuk (Imeh Bishop), Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko), Flash (Stephen Odimgbe) and Abadnego (Martins Nebo) will all feature in Tax and Revenue.

Nollywood star, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, will also make a guest appearance in this week’s edition.

The repeat broadcast of the episode will come up at 8.30 p.m. on Friday on the same NTA stations.
