Profile of Project Fame contestants

OLADAPO AYOOLA AROGUNDADE

Dapo-NO318 year old Dapo is a Systems Engineering undergraduate of the University of Lagos, Akoka. His interest in music started at seven, when he began following his mom to choir rehearsals; and he became sure of his talent having repeatedly won a music competition in secondary school.

Dapo hails from Abeokuta, Ogun state. He enjoys an amazing relationship with his family of six but will mostly miss his mom while in the Academy.

Wizkid, Davido, and Chris Brown are Dapo’s biggest music influence.

 

 ELI LETSA

Eli-NO422 year old Eli is currently studying Fashion Designing in Ghana. He grew up in a house where they enjoy music.

He holds his family and pastor dearly and would miss them greatly while in the Academy.

He enjoys listening to Timi Dakolo and Tuface while playing his favourite sport- basketball. Apart from singing, Eli also enjoys playing the guitar,

Single and ready to mingle, Eli however sees the Academy as serious business and not a place to mingle.

 

 ELIZABETH JOLADE EMORUWA

Elizabeth-NO5She is fondly referred to by friends and family as Elbe- short form of Elizabeth coined by the damsel herself. This 24 year old was forced to grow up after the demise of her loving and doting dad. As the last child of the house, she enjoyed attention from her dad until his death in 2013.

Very early, her dad introduced every member of her family to music, got them music instruments, hence she sees him as her first musical influence.

The pretty gap-toothed singer studied Mass Communication at Eruwa Campus of the prestigious Ibadan Polytechnic, Oyo State. She sees herself as strangely quiet but jovial and cool to be with. Auditioning for Project Fame in Lagos was her very first real audition; and she is here to define her music journey.

Her hobbies include singing in the kitchen and bathroom, talking and swimming (even if she has never tried it before).

Elizabeth looks forward to the Academy and meeting all the faculty members. She also looks forward to starting her career in music.

 

FAVOUR KOROMA

Favour-NO622 year old Favour will endear your heart with her smile. She has a Sierra Leonean dad who is a musician and a Nigerian mom – a dancer. She was born, bred and currently lives in Egbeda, Lagos, with her family.

She had her high school education at the Campus Comprehensive College. Her dad’s music influence has rubbed off on the family as she has a brother who plays the piano while the others are vocalists.

In 2010, Favour lost her mom whom she describes as very strict. She wished her mom was here now as she has always wanted Favour on Project Fame.

While fulfilling her mother’s dreams, Favour also chose Project Fame to leverage the huge platform.

Her passion includes singing, barbing and playing.  She describes herself as troublesome and looks forward to having fun in the competition.

 

GABRIEL ANKRAH

Gabriel-NO7Gabriel is fondly called Gabby by his friends. The 27 year old school teacher who is from Accra loves God, music, and children. Being an only child, Gabriel is very close to his dad whom he said taught him almost everything, cooking, especially.

Also, because he is an only child, Gabriel hopes to have six children, so he can make up for the large family experience he didn’t have.

Gabby continues to hone his singing skills by listening to artistes like Kesse, James Arthur, Frank Ocean, and Brymo. He plays the piano and drums.

 

 KITAY OKOTETE

Kitay-NO9Kitay describes himself as a ‘confirmed Warri Boy!’ He was born, raised, and had his primary and secondary school education in Warri, Delta state before proceeding to Ambrose Alli University in Edo state where he is currently a 300 Level student of the Vocation & Technical Studies Department.

Kitay is the 5th child of a large family. Music, for him started when dad began taking young Kitay to church. He joined the choir and continued to school himself in music. Kitay won a gospel music competition in Warri in 2013.

This music enthusiast auditioned for Project Fame in Season 8 in Abuja, but he did not make it to top 24 even though he got a YES. He decided to give Fame another shot this year at the Port Harcourt audition.

Outside music, Kitay enjoys playing football.

 

MIRABEL AYAVORO

Mirabel-NO10Mirabel hails from Delta state and is a graduate of Babcock Business School. Mirabel auditioned in Lagos. Although the competition was stiff, the music lover believes grace will single her out. She is looking forward to meeting and being trained by 2 Ben in the Academy.

 

OKIEMUTE IGHORODJE

Okiemute-NO11Okiemute is a 25 year old Linguistics & Communications graduate from University of Port Harcourt.  With a contagious smile and a bubbly spirit, it is very easy to believe the Delta born singer when she describes herself as a fun-loving individual.

Okiemute used to have a career in modeling, but lately she is following her passion as a lead singer.

She is from a family of six, and the third of four girls. Okiemute credits her journey into music to one of her sisters, whom she said was always quick to put her at the fore front of any music-related activity.

A first timer on Project Fame, Okiemute made the decision to participate this season because she was certain she had built enough confidence, hence she auditioned in Port Harcourt.

 

OLUCHI OBASI

Oluci-NO12Oluchi can simply be described as an amiable bespectacled chic. The 24 year old Abia indigene is sixth child among seven children. She studied Music at the Lagos State University.

Oluchi started singing in church at a very young age. She was also a member of the choir in secondary school. She loves listening to Asa and Adele.

Oluchi sees winning as learning for her and not necessarily clinching the ultimate prize. She is a very optimistic person, loves taking risks and loves to challenge/question norms.

She looks forward to meeting Mummy J and Ige. Oluchi is currently in a relationship with her bestie’s elder brother who is supportive of her music career. She will however miss him while in the Academy.

 

PERE DAVIES ATIE

Pere-NO1326 year old Pere would make you realize he is in the competition to win at every opportunity he has to sing. Though born and raised in Lagos, Pere moved to Bayelsa state, Nigeria immediately after secondary school.

He is currently a 300 Level Political Science student at the Niger Delta University, and seems to be an internet sensation with quite a huge social media followership and a number of cover songs on YouTube.

While some others see Uncle Ben as terror, Pere says he is in the competition to drain Uncle Ben’s energy as he likes to be pushed, even beyond his limits because, every set back is an opportunity for him to work harder. A little wonder he kept auditioning since 2010 not deterred by the ‘NOs’.

He sees singing as an opportunity to express himself and not to impress; and at every opportunity, he makes effort to express himself excellently. His music influence includes Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Tubaba, Iyanya, and Sheyi Shay.  Having worked so hard to get here, Pere is set to clinch the prize.

 

SOLOMON WILLIAMS

Solomon-NO15Solomon is a 27 year old music lover from Lagos State. He has a BSc in Accounting from University of Abuja and loves to live life to the fullest because in his words, You only live once.

Born into a strict christian home, Solomon grew up, singing in church. As the only male child among three sisters, Solomon enjoys cooking and singing with his sisters. His other hobbies include playing video games and watching football.

He had auditioned thrice for Project Fame and still did not give up because he believes every individual should be undeterred in the pursuit of their dreams, hence, he travelled all the way to Abuja from Kaduna to give Fame another shot.

 

STEVE ADEBAYO

SteveSteve is a 19 year old school teacher. He teaches diction and phonetics in a primary school, a choice of career which was greatly influenced by his love for children and English.

Steve, who hails from Ogun state says he is from a family of singers, hence music started from home before he went on to join the children choir in church.

Steve auditioned in Lagos and is excited to have made it thus far in the competition. Steve’s style of music has been influenced by the likes of Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kim Burrell, and Micah Stampley.

He is looking forward to being groomed by Uncle Ben and Mummy J in the Academy; and would miss his aunt- Beverly while in the competition.

 

WINNER EGBO

Winner-NO17Winner is a 23 year old singer from Delta state who started singing from four in church.

Though she grew up in a family of six, Winner particularly shares a strong bond with her mom, whom she admits has been through a lot with her; and would miss greatly while in the academy.

She wants to grow into music icons like Sinach, Celine Dion, and Beyonce; and she hopes to win the competition not only to achieve this dream, but also complete her education.

Winner also hopes to make her boyfriend- Solomon proud while in the competition, so she is not ready to mingle.

 

YUSUPH KUFORIJI

Yusuph-NO18You cannot miss Yusuph among the pack. Not only because of his voice, his fuji blend of music or his bubbly personality but also because of his haircut.

19 years old Yusuph believes he needs to stand out with his looks and never go unnoticed, hence this interesting haircut. He sees the lower part of the hair as where he is now and the upper part as where he is going.

From a very staunch Muslim background, you would wonder how he veered into music; the Lagos State Polytechnic alumnus just discovered this innate talent when he saw music in everything-even while reciting Quran and Islamic prayers.

As a strict alhaji, his dad initially did not support his music quest, but Yusuph’s presence on Project Fame has earned dad’s total support.

Yusuph is the 4th child among four other siblings; he was born and bred in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. His aim in the competition is to get better, thrill all the way and ultimately clinch the prize.

He afterwards aims to launch his own genre of music which he tagged- Fuji R&B.
