Project Fame co-hosts, Adora Oleh and Joseph Benjamin back on the block, go back memory lane

THE duo of Adora Oleh and Joseph Benjamin have been anchoring Project Fame for the past four years.  The twosome work hand in hand to bring harmony, entertainment and excitement to the show.  ENCOMIUM Weekly had an interview with them on how it feels to be back on the show.  We also took them on sundry issues.

Adaora Oleh (2)‘Television presenting is my absolute passion’

  • ADORA OLEH

How does it feel anchoring Project Fame once again?

It feels amazing to be back hosting the show. I am always so excited to meet the new contestants.

What has been the experience over the years?

It has been a great experience that keeps getting better. I actually can’t believe that this is my fourth year hosting the show. I guess it’s true what they say about time flying when you are having fun.  I think as with any job, the more you do it, the better you become.  So, after four years, the Project Fame stage definitely feels like home.

How challenging has it been?

Hosting the show can be quite challenging at times, but because television presenting is my absolute passion, I have no choice but to face those challenges head on.

By how much has Project Fame made you richer?

Well, let’s just say for a few months at least, it gives me the opportunity to get out of bed once I have finished sleeping.

You were with BEN TV before, are you still with them?

I was with BEN TV for a few years, I am not with them anymore.

Which is your favourite edition and winner?

I will say my second year, that was Project Fame Season Three. It was the year Chidinma won, it was well deserved.  She was able to take the criticism needed to challenge herself every week.  She is so talented, she really does have one of the most amazing voices.

We don’t see much of you in Nigeria aside on Project Fame, what else do you do?

Since the beginning of this year, I have been in America working on my new show, corresponding on Fox News and contributing for American magazine, In Touch, which has been all very exciting.

You look so much like a model, have you ever modelled before or are you considering venturing into such later?

Thank you, I might decide to get into it again.  I used to model in UK when I was at the university.

What has been the pains and gains so far?

All in all, life is good and right now there is not much to complain about. However, being a celebrity sometimes means that you are always in focus which can be an advantage or disadvantage.

What kept you on the show, your unique selling point?

I don’t know (laughs).  There really is no magic.  I have made no secret of the fact that I have really enjoyed hosting the show and as I always say, it is very important to enjoy what you do.  I love presenting and I did like to think that whilst I am presenting my enthusiasm and enjoyment comes across to the viewers at home and the live audience.  So, maybe that might have something to do with it. But for the real answer, I guess you would have to ask the studio.

Who is your ideal man, are you in a relationship?

(Smiles) Let us forget about that.

‘I have mastered the art of juggling tasks’

  • JOSEPH BENJAMIN

How does it feel anchoring Project Fame once again?

It is a good feeling. I love my job so it gives me the opportunity to interact with a lot of talented young West Africans through the course of the show.

What has been the experience over the years?

I would say the experience so far has been invaluable. It has been a good ride career wise.

How challenging has it been?

Every job has its unique challenges, all it demands of you is to understand the rudiments.  That way, you will know how to tread.  I am a calm person naturally, but being on set, you have to manage your time wisely and be ready to move when they need you.

By how much has Project Fame made you richer?

I will not attach a monetary value to my work and status.  I don’t do that.  Money is not everything, but being able to stay challenged on set, get excited about new scripts and discovering layers of the real Joe Benjamin is a blessing.

You seem to be visible in hosting shows and MC than acting?

I do not suffer one part of my career for the other, whichever comes calling, I respond to. I could have more presenting and MC gigs in a season than acting and vice versa.  You can say I have mastered the art of juggling tasks.

A lot of people find it difficult to believe you are married?

I am married to my work at the moment and with regards to my personal life that’s just something I choose to keep private.  Even Obama didn’t let his girls share the spotlight.  We all have a right to privacy, wouldn’t you agree?

It seems Project Fame brought you into limelight or is it acting?

Project Fame elevated my brand and career.  I am so thankful to God and that has in turn opened up some more dimensions in my career path.

Which is your favourite edition and favourite winner?

I would say Season 2 has been my favourite so far and Mike won that season.
