Prospective candidates besiege cyber cafes as Jamb registration begins

JAMB-Exams-620x330

As the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board started the sale of its much awaited Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination ( UTME) 2017/2018 forms across the country, many prospective candidates were sighted in some parts of Lagos states, trooping into different Cyber Cafes for  online registration for the Computer Based Technology (CBT) examination.

However, against the so called special centres’ fees of ranging from N15,000 to N40,000 for the form, encomium.ng gathered that it only costs a candidate just N7,000 to register irrespective of the course.

One of the owners of the Cyber Cafe we visited told us specifically that the reason most willing candidates are patronising the cafes for this year’s edition is not unconnected with the fact that there may not be any chance for any form of manipulation in the examination hall by the owners of the special centres  unlike before as Closed-Circuit Television  (CCTV) cameras will be installed in all the examination centres across the country for effective monitoring.
“UTME  registration has started today, and it’s online which costs a candidate N7,000 only. That’s what we have been busy doing since morning. The reason the patronage is high for this year registration at Cyber cafes all over is that most wise students that want to sit the examination have accepted their fate that they’re going to write the examination on their own this year because JAMB jas introduced CCTV camera to properly monitor every candidate. So, they don’t want to be deceived by fake promises of bogus scores by the special centers’ owners who are charging N30,000, N40,000 per head. It’s surely not going to be business as usual this year.”
