RASAQ OKOYA AND WIFE, SHADE ON SUMMER HOLIDAY AS FAMILY CELEBRATE EID-EL-FITR

The annual celebration of Eid-el-fitr in Oluwanisola Estate, along Lekki-Ajah Expressway, Lagos, held in the billionaire mogul’s sprawling estate while Chief Rasaq Okoya and his amiable wife, Alhaja Shade Okoya were absent. It was allegedly gathered that the two lovers were on summer holiday outside Nigeria.

The first wife, Alhaja Kudirat Okoya and Alhaji Tajudeen Okoya coordinated this year’s Eid-el-fitr, including the children of Chief Rasaq Okoya. Bimbo Okoya who was the chief organizer also worked tirelessly. They did not allow any lapses in the absence of Chief Rasaq Okoya.

ENCOMIUM Weekly had a chat with the Okoyas on how they tackled the challenges, prayers and what they wish Nigeria…

ALHAJA KUDIRAT OKOYA

How do you feel about today’s Eid-el-fitr?

I feel, great because we started this Ramadan about a month ago. Not all that started with us ended with us, so I give glory to Allah.

During the fasting, what were your prayer requests?

My requests were so many, because I prayed for my family, my children and extended family. I prayed for the country. It is very important to have peace in the country. That is part of my uppermost prayer requests that we should have peace and tranquility in this country.

In the absence of your husband, Chief Rasaq Okoya in this gathering, how do you feel?

I feel okay all the same because he is not here physically but he is here in spirit.

You prayed for peace in this country, what message would you send to Boko Haram insurgents who also claim to be muslims?

That is political but I wish those who care to listen that Islam is a great religion and if we should follow our great Prophet Mohammed, he never taught what is bad.

Because God said we should not kill but Boko Haram are killers and they are destroyers. What is not in the qu’ran is what they are doing. To me, I do not think they are muslims.

What is your comment about the President changing the security chiefs?

I don’t know. I am not a politician. But if it is for the betterment of our country, so be it.

What is your message to fellow muslim faithful like you?

Not by fasting alone, they may be doing their saka but what is important is their mind towards mankind then relationship with God.

During the fasting, people pretend to be holier than thou but after fasting they return to their old selves, what is your advise to them?

They should all hold onto God. No two ways about it. You either be a Muslim or Christian. It’s a sin to deceive yourself. You can’t deceive God.
