REASONS BUHARI FIRED SSS DG,EKPEYONG AND REPLACED HIM WITH HIS KINSMAN

That  Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS also known as the SSS),Mr Ita Ekpeyong was fired by President Muhammadu Buhari today is no longer news. But the reasons he lost his job to Lawal Musa Daura have finally emerged.

Those in the know claim that the President wouldn’t have worked with the former SSS boss who allegedly worked against his presidential aspiration.

Ekpeyong, by virtue of his office, coordinated all intelligence materials to disqualify the former Head of State,or at least incriminate and frustrate him out of the presidential race, especially when his popularity soared, privy sources told encomium.ng.

“There is no how PMB would have worked with the former DG. He can’t trust a Jonathan man who almost cost him the presidency. No way,”said the source.

Multiple sources reminded encomium.ng of the recent open confrontation between the Presidency, the military and the DSS, saying that could have led to unhealthy rivalry and breach of security.

Ekpeyong’s handling of the squabbles that had earlier led to the expulsion of hundreds of men of the DSS from the Presidential Villa was also  seen by Buhari’s men as largely unsatisfactory.

Only yesterday, the former DSS DG reportedly redeployed his men at the Villa to their various formations, pending the resolution of the matter.

President  Buhari, today, effected a change in the leadership of the Department of State Security Service (also known as State Security Service, SSS), replacing Ita Ekpenyong  with Lawal Musa Daura.

The appointment was conveyed  in a letter by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation,Barrister Danladi Kifasi,”in a statement issued in Abuja this evening and signed on behalf of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation by the Director Communications,Haruna R. Imrana, said.

The statement was silent on why Mr. Ekpenyong was dropped. It focused on Lawal Musa Daura, saying that he “was born in Daura, Kastina state  on August 5,1953. He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1977 – 1980. Daura started his carrier in the State Security Service in 1982 and rose to the rank of Director.

“He was at one time the Deputy Director, Presidential Communication,Command and Control Centre at the Presidential Villa, Abuja between 2003 and 2007.  He also served as the State Director of Security Service at various times in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun and Imo States.

“Daura attended various professional courses both home and abroad including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS) Kuru.”

A kinsman of the President, Lawal Musa Daura is returning to head the DSS from retirement.

And his  appointment is with immediate effect.
