Reports of the death of first governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyeseigha broke this evening (Saturday, October 10). He was alleged to have died of cardiac arrest at University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) in River State.
According to the reports, DSP Alamieyeseigha fell ill in his hometown of Ammassoma of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa two days ago which resulted into a coma, and he had since been on life support before he finally succumbed to death today.
Mr. Esueme Dan-Kikili, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information reportedly confirmed his death and describe it as a great loss to the Ijaw ethnic group.
During the week, the news of his request for extradition to London broke, as the British Government had determined to revive his case of corruption and money laundering.
