Residents, motorists happy and excited over Abule Egba bridge and roads

Vast majority of residents of Abule Egba and its environs, motorists and commuters along the route, are now happy over the completion of the massive construction of roads and flyover that commenced about a year ago which led to the demolition of many structures in the area.

Since the beginning of the project, people along the route have not been finding it funny getting to their various destinations as the express road was permanently blocked. This, however, led to the diversion of many vehicles, including heavy duty ones to the adjourning streets and some link roads in the area which had really inflicted pains and hardships on the people, especially those living in the vicinity.

However, wind of relief breezed on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, as the road was commissioned on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Not only that, the terrible traffic that always characterised the roads leading to Abule Egba from Iyana Ipaja, Agege and Sango suddenly disappeared soon as the barricade on the express road was removed.

One of the residents, Alhaji Taiwo Ibrahim, whom encomium.ng spoke to, expressed joy and excitement over the project. He lauded the state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for a job well done while he also appealed to the governor to repair all the minor roads within the area which have been destroyed by trucks when the major road was still under reconstruction.

“Yes, we’re relieved now. No more heavy traffic, no more stress. To be honest, it has not been easy since the last 11 months the Abeokuta-Abule Egba express road was blocked. Now, we’re happy to witness the opening of the road. It was really a painful experience but now, everything is normal. We can now move freely, drive freely without burning fuel and going through all sorts of stress.

“Ambode is truly delivering on his campaign promises. Although, he still has a lot of work to do in this area. Most of the streets and minor roads have been damaged by trailers and other heavy duty vehicles. And now that he has completed that project, the next thing is to repair all the damaged roads at both sides of the express road. But for this alone, he deserves kudos.”
