Revealed! Top 10 most-watched Nigerian music videos on Youtube of all time – D’Banj’s Oliver Twist leads, P Square dominates list

Despite being released more than two years ago, the video for D’Banj’s monster hit, Oliver Twist, sits atop the most-watched Nigerian music videos on video sharing giant, Youtube list as Africa’s leading music duo – Psquare, dominates the top 10 with three videos.

  1. D’Banj – Oliver Twist

Though released more than two years ago, the popularity of this song and its video doesn’t seem to have waned, with it being viewed at a staggering 28,921,948 times on Youtube This video was shot by Sesan and featured cameo appearances from American rappers – Kanye West (who had D’Banj on his record label at the time) and Big Sean, as well as other foreign stars.

 

  1. P Square – Personally

Closely following the club banger is the video for P Square’s 2013 hit, Personally, which has been viewed 27,300,674 times. The video which featured cameos from actor Osita Iheme and one half of P Square, Peter’s son, Cameron Okoye, was directed by Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye and Clarence Peters.

 

  1. P Square – Chop my money

PSquare also occupy third spot with 2011 hit, Chop my money, which featured May D and international

singing sensation, Akon. This video also directed by Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye, has been viewed 22,306,703 times on Youtube.

 

  1. P Square – Beautiful Onyinye

P Square’s dominance continues as they also occupy fourth place with another hit, Beautiful Onyinye, – the remix version featuring self-acclaimed ‘Boss’ – international superstar, Rick Ross. This video has 19,744,465 views and was, again, shot by the duo’s elder brother, Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye.

 

  1. Iyanya – Kukere

Kukere was a 2012 hit which placed crooner, Iyanya in the exclusive A-list. The catchy beat, easy-to-sing-along lyrics and traditional dance step (known as etighi) of the video were all what added up to put this song on everyone’s lips. The video, shot by Patrick Elis has been viewed 14,146,535 times on Youtube.

 

  1. Flavour – Nwa Baby (remix)

Indigenous singing star, Flavour has not looked back since this song was released in 2011, as he has gone on to establish himself as a true superstar. This video, shot by Godfather Production in South Africa, has

13,737,960 views and has been nominated for several notable awards including the Most Gifted Afro-

Pop Video at the 2011 Channel O awards.

 

  1. P-Square – Do Me

P Square’s dominance continues with the video for 2008 monster hit, Do Me, which featured the beautiful Waje, ranking seventh with 13,365,697 views. The video, as is the norm, was shot by Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye.

 

  1. Flavour ft. Tiwa Savage – Oyi Remix

Flavour makes a second appearance on this list with the video for his song, Oyi (remix) featuring the delectable Tiwa Savage. The colourful video, directed by Godfather Production, has 9,942,266 views on Youtube.

 

  1. Davido – Aye

Without mincing words, this has been the stand-out song in the Nigerian music industry for 2014, with some tagging it ‘the anthem of Nigerian music in 2014’.

The video, directed by the prolific Clarence Peters, is one of the best for this year and featured appearances from Davido’s label mate, Sina Rambo. Currently on Youtube, it has 9,940,175 views.

 

  1. Davido – Gobe

Rounding off the list is Davido, again, with Gobe, which has 9,418,022 views. The video was directed by Godfather Production.
