Revenge porn to be criminalized in Britain

Revenge pornography – which is the publishing of sexually explicit pictures of former partners without their consent – is to be made a criminal offence with the prospect of a two-year prison sentence.

The issue was brought to the fore after celebrities including pop stars – Rihanna and Tulisa Contostavlos – fell victim of the cruel craze.

There is currently no law in the United Kingdom (UK) that deals directly with the issue but proposed changes to legislation would apply to online and offline images, and those convicted could face a maximum sentence of two years in prison.
