Sadiq Daba arrives UK for cancer treatment

Veteran actor and broadcaster Sadiq Daba arrived the United Kingdom in the morning of Monday, December 4, 2017, to begin treatment for leukaemia and prostate cancer.
The 67 year-old Kano indigene who was raised in Sierra Leone was accompanied to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Ikeja (Lagos) on Sunday, December 4, by Isiaku Aliyu, Mrs. Bolaji Sadiq Daba, Sina Tiamiyu, Dr. Joe Okei Odumakin and Soni Irabor, among others, as he was checked in to the British Airways flight.
And the treatment to arrest and cure him of leukaemia and cancer began on the afternoon of Monday, December 4.
Before the trip, Senator Dino Melaye visited the ailing producer and director at home and donated N1 million.
The cancer fundraising project instituted to treat the actor was boosted by the N10 million donation of Chief Kenny Martins and his friend as Nigerians gave to the cause initiated in the early days of November.
With a gofundme.com and his UBA accounts, donations flooded in from across the world.
Segun Adewale of Aeroland was one of the early donors with N1 million.
With a N20 million target, donations are still pouring in. The gofundme.com account had $4,642 (N1,671,120) on the morning of Monday, December 4. And the naira donation is well above N14 million.
The father of 6 children and 6 grandchildren who began his broadcasting career over 35 years ago is still remembered for his Bitrus role in Cock Crow at Dawn.
