Popular Fuji artiste, Saheed Osupa was the guest artiste at the musical event last weekend in Ibadan. It was organized as part of the activities lined up for this year’s Oke ‘Badan festival and sponsored by national telecoms carrier, Globacom.
Trans Amusement Park, venue of the event was filled to capacity by guests who came to witness the live performance. Students, artisans, and people from different parts of the state were entertained by the scintillating performance of the Fuji crooner. Ace comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka anchored the show which lasted till the early hours of the following morning.
A cross section of guests who spoke to our reporter at the event revealed that the show was entertaining and fun-filled.
An indigene of Ibadan, Mojisola Arogundade, praised Globacom for its sponsorship of the festival and for putting together such a musical show. She described the event as enjoyable and exhilarating. She noted, “with Globacom’s sponsorship, we have come to see that Oke’ Badan has potentials for tourism in this part of the country. Indeed, the festival has succeeded in congregating all the sons and daughters of the land to discuss about our future as a people”.
Kabir Adepoju, a student, said that the sponsorship of the event by Globacom, shows a total commitment to the development of tourism and entertainment not only in Oyo state but in Nigeria as a whole. He enthused that the atmosphere at the event was gleeful and exciting and urged the telecoms operator to continue to do more in the state.
Oloye Lekan Alabi, the Alaasa of Ibadanland who was also at the event said “the musical fiesta is the icing on the cake of the sponsorship as it brings both the young and the young at heart together to hobnob, dance and be merry”. He lauded Globacom for the initiatives that it had added to the festival.
Globacom is sponsoring the cultural festival for the first year of a three-year agreement that was struck last year with the custodians of the festival. The musical fiesta is a highlight of its sponsorship of the festival strengthened the bonding and camaraderie in the community.
There were also plenty of freebies in form of branded T-shirts, fez caps, carrier bags and bandanas won in singing and dancing competitions which attendees gladly took part in. Olalekan Akinkunmi, who won the singing competition, was given the opportunity of performing alongside the guest artiste, Saheed Osupa. Saheed Osupa thrills at Glo-sponsored Oke’Badan
